"The gentleman who provided the service for my driveway was Keith. He came all the way out from Ft Worth to Van Alstyne ( over an one hour drive) to discuss my situation. I had a dirt driveway that was not level and would retain water after a good rain. Keith was able to build the driveway up and level it. The finished product looks great. A very fair price for the quality of work. If you have any driveway needs I would give Keith a call. You will not be disappointed with their work."

"I am very pleased with the work done by East Texas Asphalt. My nearly 20 year old driveway had some serious damages that needed repair. The repairs made by East Texas Asphalt exceeded my expectations. They also resealed the entire driveway and corrected other smaller areas that were deteriorating. I would call East Texas Asphalt again! And will recommend them to others."

"

Matt Carroll called me shortly after I posted my request on Angie?s list for a Chip Seal estimate to replace my badly damaged gravel driveway. Within a few minutes I received the official estimate via email. Matt called back and said they could start the next day, weather permitting.

Matt stopped by the next morning to discuss the project with me. That?s when I surprised him with the news that I had changed my mind about the type of driveway I wanted. He took the news in stride and gave me a new estimate for an asphalt driveway instead of Chip Seal.

I was shocked and amazed by the amount of equipment and crew that had already arrived to do the job. I?m sure Matt had to do some major shuffling to accommodate my last minute request, but he never gave the slightest hint that it was a problem or an inconvenience.

I now have a beautiful new driveway, thanks to Matt Carroll and his outstanding crew.

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

Proper surface prep and application techniques by pros minimize peeling, ensuring longevity.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

The costs range from $0.15 to $0.50 per square foot, depending on the asphalt condition, sealant type, and labor.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.
