"Excellent service and communication throughout the project. James kept us informed daily on when his crew would arrive and depart, and on the status of the project. He and his employees were all respectful and actually very pleasant to be around. The workmanship was of very high quality. We also use Bencro for our yardcare and have been very pleased. They arrive on schedule each week and keep our yard in excellent shape."

"The crew showed up every morning on time. They patched/drywalled and textured numerous small areas. The texturing was so good, that it is almost impossible to detect where the repairs where made. They also framed, drywalled and textured the kitchen area for recessed lighting installation. They repaired an area where there was a shower leak. They replaced the drywall and textured an area where a closet had been removed. On every part of the project, they exhibited superior workmanship. And at the end of every day, they cleaned up after themselves. Hire them again? Definitely yes!

"I did not go with their services. Unfortunately my budget was too tight to go with their company. I was hoping I could though because I could tell how professional Matt was and how experienced he was. I had to go another route with insulation installation. I would recommend Matt to anyone of my friends or family and feel like they were in good hands. After we established I wasn't going to be able to accommodate this into my massive renovation, he still wanted to help me and gave me recommendations to other people for other work I was going to be doing. The recommendations he gave were people who did work on his personal house. Just an overall very honest owner and very helpful."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

You can technically just paint over hairline cracks in plaster since these cracks are often harmless, but this will mostly be a waste of paint. Paint will only hide the hairline crack for a few months before it shows up again. The best solution is to repair the crack with flexible filler or joint compound before repainting.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

Costs depend on damage extent of damage, labor, finishing, and whether mold remediation is needed.

The cost to install drywall is between $1.50 and $3 per square foot, while shiplap installation costs between $2 and $7 on average. In most applications, shiplap installations cost more than that of putting in drywall. However, several ways exist to reduce shiplap prices, especially for small locations or accent walls, which can keep the total cost of shiplap competitive with that of drywall.
