"Over the past few years we have given CQS at least half a dozen jobs relating to multiple trades including excavation, tree removal and relocations, acres of tree clearing, drainage, landscaping and masonry work. Ely is the man! Always shows up or his crews will when they say they will. Which I have had multiple issues with labor/contractors getting a deposits and soon after spotty communications. Ultimately resulting in calling a true professional such as CQS and El Hefe Edgar Ely. His day rates and estimates are inline and fair with todays labor market here in Austin, Tx."

"Bobby and this crew were very interested in knowing exactly what I wanted to be done, and they were friendly, courteous, professional, and thorough in every way. They renewed and restored my courtyard wall (including masonry work, sealing, and power-washing), and they cleaned up, repainted, and re-attached my decorative grate within one of the arches. The masonry work was completed in 1.5 days, and the renovation of my grate in 1/2 day. Each day, they cleaned up the work area before leaving. And I believe that the price was very fair. I am an extremely satisfied customer, and I unhesitatingly recommend Bobby's Brick Ventures to other persons."

"Came to the job when they said they would. Did a great job leveling my yard. Would like them to apply more grass seed the first time around so my yard would take off better."

Customers say: Quick response

"Very happy with the work that Martin did - ver thorough and fast! The main project was a concrete wraparound for our patio that included flagstones. He understood immediately what we wanted, and had some good suggestions for how to lay it out. In addition to that work, we asked him to pour two concrete pads: one for our trash cans and one for a portable generator. He also poured a concrete ramp for our shed. The whole thing took 3 days, and the price was great. Highly recommend him!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, as long as the cut is clean and the brick remains structurally sound, you can reuse it. Reusing brick is especially common for landscaping, edging, and small masonry repairs. Just make sure to file down any sharp edges before handling or installing it.

Cobblestone fell out of favor with the advent of motor vehicles. Asphalt and concrete are both much smoother surfaces allowing for a smoother ride. Asphalt is also much cheaper, especially for driveways. However, we didn’t stop using cobblestone altogether, and you can still see it as a decorative option in both homes, in parks, and in pedestrianized areas of cities.

Yes, brick can breathe through limewash. Limewash is a breathable coating made from natural lime and water, allowing moisture to pass through while providing a protective layer. Unlike synthetic paints or sealants, which can trap moisture within the brick and lead to issues like mold, limewash allows the brick to maintain its natural breathability. This characteristic makes limewash an ideal choice for historic structures where preserving the integrity of the brick is essential.

Brick houses can last at least 100 years with minimal maintenance. With regular care and attention, including mortar repointing, brick houses can last 500 years or more.

A chimney cleaning brick or log can help loosen creosote between professional chimney cleaning appointments. Although they can help keep your chimney cleaner, they are not a substitute for chimney sweeping and are not meant to be used regularly.
