"I had an electrical outlet installed on my brick fireplace so I could hang my TV up. I was quoted from another company $600 and would have the outlet box exposed from the brick. I used Enoch and it done for $150. Plug looks great! I'll use Enoch anytime I need electric work done."

"I recently hired an Chau dang electric to upgrade my breaker panel, replace breakers, and install an additional panel for a generator. He showed up on time, was very professional, and explained everything clearly before starting the work. The installation was done clean and organized, and he made sure everything was up to code. I really appreciated his attention to detail and the quality of his work. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the service and would definitely recommend him to anyone needing electrical work."

"Mike is really really good at what he does.. I had a power pole that was leaning badly with my main power breakers and security lights attached to it so mike came out to give it a look and I hired him on the spot. he is friendly and professional and a no mess around kind of guy. the next day he came out to start the job and stated to unload his materials for the job. I had to go up front to the office for about 30 min. and when I came back he had already removed the old pole and put a new 20ft pole in the ground and had it level and secured and ready to start mounting all the electrical stuff to it. I was blown away with the speed and precision of just the pole. long story short is he does excellent work and doesn't try to tell you that you need stuff you don't. he has a great rate for his services and he even called me the next day to see if all was good. I will definitely use him again"

"Ed Riley is extremely knowledgeable about what causes lighting and how to protect from it. He explained to me which and how structures develop static electricity that lead to lighting discharges in a way that the physics made sense to me. They were also reasonably priced and kept their word. Definitely recommend them."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Call your utility company immediately. Do not go outside, even in your own yard, and keep pets indoors. Downed power lines pose a serious electrocution hazard. They can also cause large power surges that could damage your appliances, so it’s a good idea to shut down power to your home if possible. If your breakers trip, leave them off until the utility company finishes its repair work.

Yes, you can convert a gas water heater to an electric one, but it is a complex process. You will need to ensure there is adequate power for the new electric unit, as they require more power than gas models. The project also involves safely closing off the gas lines and ventilation, and some cities may require a permit for the conversion. The cost can range from $1,500 to $4,100, depending on the installation scope, plumbing and electrical work, and the water heater model. For an accurate quote, it's best to contact a local professional. Also, be aware that your monthly utility bills may increase after the conversion, as natural gas is typically cheaper than electricity.

Outdoor outlets should be at least 15-amp, but preferably 20-amp. The exact rating will depend on the electrical load of the devices that will be plugged into the outlet and the capacity of the circuit. It's important not to overload the circuit, which can cause safety hazards such as tripped breakers or electrical fires. In general, a circuit rated for at least 20 amps is recommended for outdoor outlets, while each outlet should be rated for at least 15 amps.

Dehumidifiers typically use 300 to 700 watts of electricity per hour, whereas portable dehumidifiers use about 40 watts per hour. The exact amount of electricity your dehumidifier will generate depends on its capacity and energy efficiency. Generally, higher-capacity dehumidifiers generate more electricity than lower-capacity units, but they also usually have better energy efficiency over the long run.

On average, the cost to wire a new home ranges from $2 to $5 per square foot. The cost to rewire a house is around the same, ranging from $2 to $4 per square foot. Often, though, new wiring comes with lower overall costs since it’s much easier to access a home’s foundation.
