"Stuart Gregor with Stuart HVAC showed up on time and conducted a tune-up on my AC System.  Stuart was very courteous, professional when he showed up at my home.  He did a thorough job checking out my A/C system.  With the weather being in the 100 degrees I wanted to make sure my system was in fine working order.  I am very happy with service that Stuart HAVC performed on my A/C system.  I will use this company in the Fall to check my heating system for the Winter.

"John Morrison was great. He gave me the lowest bid of all the other HVAC companies that bid on the job. He strikes me as a man of deep integrity. He did not try and sell me services or equipment that I didn't need. I'm so glad I found an HVAC company I can trust. I have an old furnace that will need to be replaced soon and when that time comes I will definitely use Morrison's Heating And Air.

"He was prompt, professional, friendly, and charged a very fair price for his service.  He will be my first call when I have another appliance related issue.  I will definitely recommend Don to my neighbors, friends and family."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

No, you should not run an air conditioner with a Freon leak. If you think your AC unit is leaking refrigerant, shut it off immediately. When you keep using a leaky air conditioner, it could damage the unit and release more refrigerant. After turning off the AC, have an HVAC pro come take a look at the unit.

This depends on the extent of the freezing. Some ACs only need an hour or two to thaw out, but others may need a full day to completely unfreeze. Once you turn off the system to let it unfreeze, check it periodically to make sure the drain pan doesn’t overflow. When you turn the system back on, keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t start freezing again.

Indications of an HVAC problem include inconsistent heating or cooling throughout your home, unpredictable temperature changes, or inadequate air flow from vents. Abnormal sounds such as grinding, banging, or hissing, and unpleasant smells like mustiness or burning are also potential warning signs. A rise in energy costs without an increase in usage may also imply decreased efficiency. An HVAC system that frequently cycles on and off or cannot maintain a stable temperature is malfunctioning.

Here’s how AC professionals will clean your AC coils:

  1. Unplug the AC unit or turn off the breaker to the unit in your circuit breaker box.

  2. Remove the faceplate.

  3. Spray a vacuum hose attachment or compressed air can to remove debris, dust, dirt, and grime.

  4. Use a soft-bristled fin comb to remove stubborn caked-on debris.

  5. Use the vacuum hose to suck up any extra debris.

  6. Take a coil-safe cleaning solution and spray it onto the coils. Try to choose a no-rinse solution.

  7. Let the solution sit for at least 15 minutes.

  8. Gently wipe away loosened grime and debris with a microfiber cloth.

  9. Reattach the faceplate, plug in your AC system, or turn the breaker back on.

Both evaporator coils and condenser coils are recyclable and contain valuable, sellable metals such as copper and aluminum. Not only is it more earth-friendly to take them to a local metal recycling facility, but you can also trade them in for cash. Also, once the coils are removed from the system, they won’t have any traces of refrigerant, so you won’t have to arrange for recycling Freon or R-410A unless you’re disposing of the entire AC system.
