"The demolition work started just before the heavy rains started in May 2015.  It rained pretty solid for 3 weeks which rendered the work almost impossible without creating a mud pit.  We agreed to stop work until the rains stopped and the site dried up.  Once the project was re-started in July, the work proceeded in a normal sequence.  We were not in a great hurry.  We cared more about having a good quality driveway and that's what we got in the end.

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

When hiring asphalt paving pros in Belton, prioritize contractors with proven experience handling the region’s clay soils and fluctuating weather. Verify they carry proper insurance and have completed recent driveway paving projects locally. Ask about their approach to base preparation and drainage solutions. Ensure they use high-quality hot-mix asphalt and reliable materials, and check for strong community reviews to confirm their reputation.

Helpful?

Belton’s climate, with hot summers and occasional freezes, can cause asphalt surfaces to expand, contract, and develop cracks. Heavy spring rains may delay installation and highlight the need for effective drainage planning. Drought conditions can lead to soil movement beneath paved areas. Scheduling asphalt paving in spring or fall helps minimize weather-related risks and ensures better long-term performance.

Helpful?

Combining asphalt paving with upgrades like drainage installation, landscaping, or utility work in Belton is a smart way to streamline projects. Coordinating these improvements reduces the risk of damaging new pavement and allows for shared excavation efforts. Planning multiple upgrades together, especially during dry months, can minimize disruptions, save on labor, and enhance your property’s overall curb appeal.

Helpful?

Asphalt paving in Belton requires routine maintenance to withstand sun exposure and shifting soils. Schedule sealcoating every 2–3 years to protect the surface, and inspect for cracks or potholes annually. Promptly address any drainage issues to prevent water damage. Regularly clear debris from edges and keep an eye on driveway settling, especially after heavy rain, to extend the pavement’s lifespan.

Helpful?

In Belton, most residential driveway paving projects are completed within 1 to 5 days, depending on size and site conditions. Commercial paving may take longer, especially if grading or asphalt repair is needed. Weather delays and permit processing can extend timelines, so it’s wise to schedule during spring or fall for smoother progress and fewer interruptions from extreme temperatures.
