Al's Paving

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a company in my life. They did a $9k chip seal job for us in the middle of winter2 years ago, after assuring us that it would last vs the $2k asphalt deal we originally called them for. Within days we had massive runoffs, huge chunks that washed away entirely, and rocks all over the house because the chip seal was not sticking. We called them and they came out a few months later to fix some of the spots. That also washed away entirely, leaving us with dozens of large holes all over our driveway and front yard. Shaun again came out and assured us that it was poorly done, and assured us that he would make it out within the next couple of months to fix it. 7 months later in June , I reached out asking them for an update just to get a response in August giving us the run around. We have gone back and forth via email several times since. Today, I was just informed that because we wrote a bad review about our experience, they will not honor

Our driveway was already asphalt paved. Al's came to seal some cracks and fix a washed out spot that wasn't done correctly. I asked if there was something they could do to the entire driveway that would last longer. They recommended chip seal. So I paid for the entire 900ft driveway to be chip sealed. What we have a year later is gravel and blotches of the old asphalt driveway. We constantly track rocks everywhere on the property, in the shop, in the house and anywhere else. It was never sealed properly and we were told to wait for it to warm up. I guess 90 days of 100° plus and no rain wasn't enough.

Al was a straightforward, honest gentleman that provided us a quote and performed an excellent service on our residence.

Completed the job quickly and no issues arose.

I requested a 12' width for my driveway and in multiple sections the driveway is less than 12' and a few areas are less than 11'. The owner was quick to respond and reinspect but insisted I'd dictated a 10" width. I originally told him I wanted it paved the width of my cement apron, which I thought was 10", but we measured it and it was 12' wide. He then spray painted the new asphalt footprint at 12" and in some area's 13"-14" due to a wide sweeping turn. When his crew came and scraped the ground to prep for paving, they removed the spray paint marks. At the reinspection the owner was unwilling to make and corrections. This was an $11,000.00 job. I did not try to negotiate a lower price and agreed to his asking price. I expected better for the price we paid. There were uneven spaces where the roller/packer stopped and left indentions. Overall a fair job for the price we paid. I would not use this company again.

Very responsive in addressing and meeting our needs to repair and improve our parking lots and in meeting TAS (Texas Accessibility Standards). Professional, experienced, courteous, friendly. Would absolutely seek them out for future needs. And, would absolutely recommend them to others.

While Asphalt during a pandemic is very expensive, he was less than any other quote I received ... and I checked out 10 other businesses. He was very professional. He did a great job. I will use him for all my asphalt needs moving forward.
