"I recently had a home inspection done by Beau Roper at GreenWorks, and I?m blown away by the quality. This wasn't just a standard checklist; the report was incredibly advanced, interactive, and tech-heavy. Beau used drones to get high-resolution views of the roof and infrared thermal imaging to find hidden issues like missing wall insulation that a typical visual inspection would have completely missed. Beau?s attention to detail is elite. He caught a major life-safety hazard with a disconnected water heater flue venting into the attic and identified insufficient AC cooling differentials that required a specialist's eye. He even provided an elevation map of the foundation to give us a clear performance baseline. If you want an inspector who uses the best technology to find what others miss, ask for Beau Roper!"

"Last night I saw what looked like black mold on my bedroom ceiling. A small area. I could barely sleep and wasn’t sure who to call. Well, I decided to call All Nation based on their reviews. Josh was able to come out THIS afternoon. On a Friday! It was such a relief. He inspected my ceiling but also went into the attic and took a ton of photos. Well, I was kind of surprised. A lot of rodent feces, as well as condensation around the ducts of my air conditioning system. He also mentioned other things and showed me with pictures. He’s going to write everything up so I can see it and understand it. They can come out next week to take care of it. I am so relieved that I called and that one company can handle everything. He says he can take out the insulation with the feces, everything. Then I tried to pay him but this was free for him to come out and inspect everything. What a wonderful company."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is naturally present everywhere, it is impossible to avoid entirely. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking action to reduce radon levels if your home's test results are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.

There are steps you can take as a homeowner to remediate radon yourself. While a radon reduction professional can make the biggest impact in your home, you can make efforts to improve radon levels on your own by sealing cracks, increasing ventilation, and testing for radon regularly.

You can vent radon out of your house sometimes by simply opening a window, but it won’t remove the source, and will likely rise above recommended levels quickly. A professional will be needed to assess your home, and determine the best strategy for radon removal. Active radon sump pumps and soil depressurization systems are often used to forcefully vent the radon from your home.

Your radon mitigation system may be loud because it’s time to replace it. Any sounds are usually from the inline fan that helps create the vacuum and resulting airflow. If you hear a new, loud mechanical or humming noise from your radon fan, it might be time to replace it. Most fans used in radon mitigation systems last up to 10 years, but may need to be replaced sooner.
