"Sept 24, 2025. Well, I have to say this duo team did such a professional job on the new hvac system. I could tell Omar and Eric had the experience and really cared about the proper installation and doing everything correctly. I would definitely recommend this duo team for any work needed on AC work or installation! Also, I would thank Nex Gen for working so well with our home warranty provider. "Chris responded with a house visit to check my air conditioner mini-split system very quickly. He communicated the problem with the unit and gave me the information I needed to make an informed decision on the repair. The repair parts were difficult to find but he eventually got the unit delivered and made an on-time finish of the repair. The unit works well so far."

"I would like to highly recommend Air Rx for the outstanding job they did at our home. Justin, the Air Rx technician, arrived on time and quickly assessed the tasks for him to complete. First, he meticulously cleaned the dryer vent. Next, Justin removed all the air registers, cleaning them until they looked brand new. With the registers removed, he was able to use a large vacuum to reach into the air ducts. Those ducts were sprayed with a cleaner and the unit itself distributed a fine mist throughout the entire system to treat mold, dust and other allergens. When all the duct cleaning was done, Justin vacuumed our entire home to remove the debris that had fallen out during the cleaning process. While he was here, I asked him if he could help us with replacing the original air return register, which is old and battered. He measured the opening, called his boss, who delivered it, and it was installed, too. We have asked our A/C company at least four times for help with how and where to get it replaced since it is an odd size. This is a first rate company!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

It depends on the size of the space you’re cooling down. If you’re looking for the most affordable way to cool an entire house over a long period of time, then central air will be more cost-effective. But when it comes to cooling down a couple of rooms or one floor, a window unit may be the cheaper option, with both a lower cost to install and less energy used to run.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.

One of the first signs of mold in an air conditioner is a musty smell. You're likely to notice the smell when the unit runs, from the air coming out of the vents or the unit itself. You may also be able to see mold growing on the unit, such as near the condenser coils or by the fan. In some cases, there may be visible mold by the vents.

The cost of annual maintenance depends on the type of HVAC system you have. AC service typically costs an average of $200 but ranges from $100 to $550. If your system needs repairs, the price will vary significantly depending on what needs fixing. However, addressing the issues as they arise can prevent further damage to your unit and keep it operating efficiently for much longer.
