"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"I couldn't be more pleased with the floor installation from Emilio flooring. From the very beginning, their team was professional, responsive, and helpful in guiding me through the selection process. The installation crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and took great care to ensure everything was done perfectly. The quality of the flooring is outstanding, and the final result has truly transformed my space. They also took extra care to clean up afterward, leaving everything neat and tidy. I highly recommend Emilio flooring for anyone looking to upgrade their floors—excellent service from start to finish!"

"I was in need of laminated flooring for three bedrooms, he not only did an outstanding job in a day and a half. He took up the carpet and move furniture and all three. He also fixed the flooring in my hallway, that was water damaged at no extra charge! His prices are reasonable. I definitely recommend his work to anyone who is looking for repairs or remodeling."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

You may be wondering, how long does carpet last? It depends on the type. For your Berber carpet, it should last 10 to 15 years with regular cleaning and maintenance. For the longest lifespan possible, you should call in a carpet cleaner for a deep cleaning at least once a year.

Also, you can opt for higher-quality Berber carpet and underlayment which will last longer. And if you have pets, make sure to house-train them and use extra rugs in areas you expect high foot traffic.

If the installer is unwilling to fix the problems and you’re not interested in seeking remediation, you could hide a visually unpleasant floor. This will only work if the floor is structurally sound and the only issue you have is the way it looks. The easiest way to do this is to use large area rugs. You can also paint the floor, although that’s a labor-intensive job if you want to go the DIY route.

Basements are commonly converted into game rooms. The potential challenges you may run into include controlling moisture, working with low ceilings, limited natural light, and the need for additional electrical or HVAC work. Addressing these issues can add to the total cost, but it ensures a comfortable and functional space.

Installing carpet padding is mostly a matter of measuring the room and cutting the carpet pad to size with a utility knife. You can save some money on carpet installation costs by doing it yourself. Before installing the carpet padding, you should install the tack strips around the room’s perimeter and prepare the subfloor by cleaning and making any necessary repairs. Then, unroll the carpet pad and cut sections as needed. Staple the carpet pad to the subfloor along the edges, leaving the tack strips exposed.

For rooms with an even number of feet (10 x 12, for example), you can technically just multiply them together to get the number of square feet in the room (10 feet x 12 feet = 120 sq. ft.). For irregularly shaped rooms or areas that aren’t even square feet, converting to inches will be your best bet for an accurate measurement.
