"I had an outdoor antenna installed and the AV team also had to re-route my internet modem to accommodate the way I wanted the TV access. They did that at no cost. They also disconnected my Dish satellite while they were on the roof. I had two new coax cables installed too, so they had to get in the attic during the hot part of the day. Everything is working perfect and my internet is actually faster because it is in a different room."

Small jobs welcome

Hi my name is Chris Hill I run Hill Exteriors and we are a small local residential construction company mainly focusing on exterior work but we have the skills and knowledge to tackle almost any project you have related to your home. I grew up as one of those kids who loved tools and taking stuff apart and putting it back together and started my career off at Home Depot at the age of 18 where I ended up being promoted and managing the paint department there. I trained under an extremely skilled contractor for about a decade before he retired and he left me with the skills ,knowledge and the accounts to be able to continue the work he had trained me to do at fair prices. I take pride in my work and not try to sell people stuff that they don't need. If what you need done is not something I can handle I will be up front about it and I have a large network of local contractors that I trust that I can put you in touch with. I am insured and local with plenty of references!

"We are thrilled with his professionalism, quality of work and ability to explain how use the systems. One of my biggest issues was what to do with our 80" TV in the living room since there was no good location. He immediately suggested hanging it above our fireplace. My only concern was how he would do it so that no wires showed (I'm very picky). I was amazed! He took the mantel off and centered it perfectly with NO wires to be seen! It looks incredible and is exactly the height we needed. I was very impressed that he took the time to explain why it needed to be located where he suggested because of potential heat from the fireplace. I can NOT express how happy we are to have worked with this company!"

"Daniel installed an HDTV antenna in our attic. He did this for us on a Sunday - his day off. I found Daniel to be a very friendly and knowledgeable guy. His customer service and attention to detail were second to none. The antenna is excellent."

TV Antenna questions, answered by experts

If you’re having problems with poor reception, here are some simple tips that may help improve the signal and picture quality.

  • Consider the position of the antenna: Could it be higher, is it secure, or are nearby obstructions interfering with the signal? For a directional antenna, you may need to reposition it in the direction of the broadcast tower.

  • Move any metallic objects: Metal can interfere or block reception, so if you have stainless steel objects or the antenna is near a wrought-iron fence, this could be a problem. Try to keep the antenna at least six feet away from metal objects..

  • Cable length: An overly long cable can reduce signal strength. If you don’t need as much cable as you are using, it may be better to exchange it for a shorter one.

The easiest way to ensure you get the best reception from your TV antenna is to leave the installation to a professional. You’ll pay around $300 for this service, but the expert will use signal checkers to find the ideal placement for your antenna on your roof. They can also determine the right direction for your antenna to face. If your existing antennas are delivering a poor-quality picture, it might help to invest in a TV antenna signal booster, which picks up more signals and could provide a better experience.

Before investing in a TV antenna repair, there are a few steps you can take to help boost your signal quality. Removing obstacles like tree branches can help improve your signal strength. Along the same line, moving an indoor antenna away from obstacles can also help. These should be near a window, as high as possible. If these steps don’t work, speak with a TV antenna technician about a signal amplifier to help boost your signal even further.

If your TV antenna is good quality and was installed by a professional, you can expect it to last between 10 and 20 years without needing repair or replacement. This can vary based on your geographic location, weather conditions, and antenna location.

The shorter the coaxial cable, the better. The further you run the cable, the more signal loss you'll experience. At 50 feet, you'll see significant signal loss, and by 100 feet, you'll experience at least a 30% drop in signal strength.
