Customers say: True professional

"I highly recommend GC Construction. They provided excellent service from start to finish for work on my driveway and a slab for my new 2 car garage. At the start Geovanni provided a good quote in a timely manner and suggestions related to the job. While working on the job they showed me a leveling issue with my original design that would have caused rain water to puddle next to the foundation. They provided 3 options to resolve the issue and reasonable quotes. We were aligned on the best solution and they completed the work faster than I expected. In addition, I told them I wanted to use the excavated dirt to fill in holes and dips in the yard. Instead of just piling the dirt in one place, the whole crew worked to fill all the holes and dips around the yard at no additional charge. The next time I have any cement work to be done, I will be calling GC construction first."

"We purchased a historic home with no driveway, just a dirt parking spot behind the house. Alex at Smoky Mountain Paving planned a driveway and designed it to fit our needs. It is beautiful and exactly what we hoped for. They communicated with us throughout the entire process and they left no mess behind. We get compliments on our new driveway all the time. We will use them in the future for any related projects and definitely recommend that others utilize their services."

"Excellent work & pricing. When the work was more extensive than quoted, Josh did not push those additional costs to me even though most companies would. I would recommend Garrett & Sons for any of you Masonary needs."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Box fill refers to the maximum number of conductors that can be contained within a wiring enclosure box, as well as the total volume of the components. Determining the allowable number of conductors in a box requires adding up the number of conductors, clamps, support fittings, devices and equipment, and equipment grounding conductors to make sure you’re within the allowable volume.

Whether you decide to DIY paver installation or want to hire a pro, it’s smart to understand the process. First, you’ll need to prepare the area by clearing away grass and dirt. Next, you’ll add the paver base of gravel and sand before laying the pavers on top. You may need to cut pavers to fit your space or the landscaping design and add edging stones.

You should place a layer of thick landscaping fabric directly over the concrete slab and then a thin layer of leveling sand over that to protect the pavers from moisture. For border pavers, you should plan on locking them in place with polyurethane adhesive. This will prevent them from shifting under foot traffic.

Yes, but it's best to kill off the grass with solarization and remove the dead plant matter before laying down the pavers. This helps limit the chance of your pavers shifting as the dead plant matter decomposes.

If you wish to break up a cracked or broken paver for removal, you can use a hammer or mallet and a chisel to fragment the paver. As you’re working, be careful not to disturb surrounding pavers; the key is to work slowly and steadily and remove the broken pieces gently. You should also wear a mask and goggles to ensure that no dust gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth as you work.
