"Brandi and her husband, James are awesome. They installed a tile backsplash for my daughter. The contact with them before the job, was remarkable. They were right on time. They are very respectful of your home, covering the floors, cabinets and countertop. They did a perfect job. It turned out beautiful and my daughter was so pleased. They cleaned up both times, between the laying of the tile and the grouting. When they left, you never knew they had been there. They even turned the light off. You have no worry hiring this family owned business. We will be hiring them in the future for the installation of a tile shower. Thank you so much Brandi and James. Valorie and Maggie"

"I had Tyler and Brian come to remodel an area of my kitchen and install a new backsplash, and I am incredibly satisfied with their work. They took the time to understand my preferences and provided valuable suggestions that enhanced my original vision. The team was punctual, respectful, and maintained a clean work environment, which I greatly appreciated. I look forward to working with Blue Rock Construction again!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

Yes, it would be best if you waterproofed your shower walls before tiling. The cement backing board behind the tile is not waterproof; it’s only water-resistant. On top of your tile backing board, be sure to use a waterproof shower membrane before you start installing your shower tiles.

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional services ensure precision and long-lasting results.

It’s important to leave a gap in the corner when tiling to allow room for tile expansion. Leaving between one eighth of an inch to one tenth of an inch is enough space.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.
