"Our first project with this company was awesome, which is why we hired them for this job at the end of March. They did tell us that it might take 2 months to start, however at the beginning of May, they contacted us and told us they were going to start sooner. When a week went by, we checked on the status and no response. Another week and no response. Then we received a call saying they would be starting in a week. Finally on June 23 they began the project. Took them two weeks to get it done, after many attempts at trying to change the plan that we had come up with. Also in the process, the end of our driveway was cracked by a cement truck which the owner promised us two weeks ago would be fixed and Gene, the project manager, told my husband on Friday July 16th (after my husband called to check on the status ..again no calls from Green Home) that he would be over the following week to fix the driveway and guess what??? NO SHOW AND NO CALLS. My husband called and left a message for the owner this morning first thing and as of 11:00 a.m., still no phone call back. I don't know what happened to this company from February until now, but it is our intention to not ever use them or recommend them again. They do not stay in touch to give you a status. They do not return calls but they are "johnny on the spot" when it comes to being paid."

"I have a older home, 40s, that had the original windows in it. As with all things, with age comes deterioration. I contacted Dillion from Stefaniak Construction and spoke with him about replacement options and scheduled an inspection. He was very professional and knowledgeable with my situation. After his inspection, we decided to replace 9 of the windows in the home. With it being an older home, there were a few obstacles for him and he handled them in a quick and proficient manner. I am extremely pleased with the final results and his professionalism. I would recommend Stefaniak Construction 10/10."

"Initial estimate was provided by Adam Phillips, who was polite and professional.  He provided good advice on materials and was especially helpful in explaining about their process for manufacturing gates.  We have a total of 3 gates, and as they aged, they became more and more problematic.  Adam explained that their company fabricated a metal frame to which the wooden components were bolted, eliminating all the issues we had experienced before.
We booked an installation date with Phillips; they kept us informed when dates moved due to weather.  Removal of the old fence and installation of the new went as expected, with no major issues at all.  As a nice extra, the installation crew had no problem adding additional fencing boards at the bottom to seal openings caused by the irregular nature of our landscape.  Finished product looked great and I must say that the gates are first rate; I have no doubt they will be in service past the life of the fence.
Price was as agreed, and there has been no issue with the quality of the product.  Referred them to a family member who ended up purchasing from them as well.  We're both pleased with their service and would recommend / use them again without reservation.

Mr. Card was fantastic!   He takes great pride in his work. I will never use anyone else.  His is my first call for everything.  He is honest and trustworthily.

He not only repaired out drive but made sure the drainage was done correctly to prevent this from ever happening again.  He also updated our landscaping.  He took great pains to enhance the beauty of the property in a natural and charming way. Weeks later he came by when rain was expected to make sure all of the drainage was working properly.

We could not be happier with the outcome.

"Matt with MS was great. They contacted me the same day as requested. He performed the work 2 days later. His quote was very reasonable and he completed the work in one afternoon. The quality of the work was outstanding and he cleaned up all the debris and left the work area cleaner than it was before. I will definitely call MS again if I have any other projects."

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

Driveway gates can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, depending on how well you maintain your gate, the material type, how frequently you use it, and whether you choose an automatic or manual gate. Automatic gates generally require more maintenance than manual gates due to their added sliding gate mechanisms, which can go out from frequent use.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.

Instead of a security door, you might opt for a heavy-duty screen door made from durable mesh, which allows better sunlight and airflow. Additionally, you could enhance security by installing strong locks on your existing door. A double-cylinder deadbolt provides robust security; however, be aware that some local laws prohibit them due to safety concerns during emergencies.

Electric gates can be forced open if someone applies enough force to the edge furthest from the mounting bracket. You can reduce this risk by adding an electric lock to your gate opener. However, automatic gate openers generally help deter intruders, especially when paired with outdoor lighting and security cameras. Other home security tips include trimming trees surrounding the area for added visibility and installing motion sensors in your yard.

Installing a gate on your property is often a worthwhile investment, despite the initial expense. Gates enhance your home's curb appeal and can increase its property value, making them more attractive to potential homebuyers. They provide significant security benefits by keeping out unwanted guests and increasing privacy for your household. Additionally, a gate can help keep children and pets safely contained in your yard.

For driveway gates, automatic versions are particularly convenient and tend to add more value than manual ones. The choice of gate material also plays a role in both aesthetic appeal and security. Beyond driveways, side gates can improve accessibility to your rear yard, making the outdoor space more usable. Overall, whether for security, safety, or aesthetics, installing a gate is a valuable addition to a property.
