"Andrew and Shawn came promptly to fix our list. They installed a ceiling fan, changed outdoor outlets, replaced ceiling lights in the master bath and one or two minor fixes for us. The electrical jobs were well done as well as the small fixes. The only quirk was the ceiling fan was put up in the wrong room. I had given them a list with the location and shown them on a previous visit, where we wanted the fan but did not go back to the basement that morning to check so probably my fault. When I realized the mistake, Andrew offered to make it right but I knew the clock was ticking so I left it in that room. We were going to change it eventually anyway.

"It went well the technician was professional and the communication was great. I was disappointed that Choice Home put a cap on the ceiling fan price. I feel it works better if you base your price off of what fan the customer has and not a standard price"

"Two Rivers Electric provided an outstanding experience from start to finish. They were able to accommodate an appointment quickly, were honest, and did quality work. My service technician, Peyton, did everything possible to resolve the issue in the first visit. Unfortunately, the issue was not as simple as we expected. I live in an older home and so the new electric line had to be run instead of just fixing the outlet. They were able to get me in within a short amount of time for the second appointment. I felt Peyton really took into consideration my home and the best way to accomplish the job with minimal inpact to walls and ceilings. You could tell he really knew what he was doing and cared about the work being done. He took his time to do a quality job rather than just taking the easiest route. Everyone from customer service to Peyton kept me updated on the process and made sure I was fully satisfied before leaving the job site. The rates were at or below all other quotes I received and in a much quicker time frame. I will trust them again with future electrical needs."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. Whether you’re looking for a simple grid pattern or want an elaborate, decorative ceiling with all the bells and whistles, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Installing a ceiling fan where no wiring exists is a difficult and potentially dangerous job that should not be attempted as a DIY project. It is recommended to hire a certified electrician to build the necessary electrical infrastructure. In some areas, building codes require this work to be done by a professional to ensure safety and compliance. Due to the complexity, this type of installation is a significant job that could cost up to $2,000.

Most ceiling fans have a lifespan of anywhere from five to 15 years or 10 years on average. Just how long your ceiling fan lasts depends on the quality of the parts, how much it’s used, and how well you maintain it. A fan with a weak motor that runs on the medium setting nonstop is likely to have a shorter lifespan compared to a fan with a powerful motor that runs on the slowest setting for air circulation.

Yes, you can install a ceiling fan where a standard light fixture is, as the electrical wiring is often similar and may not need to be replaced. The most important step is to ensure the ceiling can support the fan's weight and motion. You will need to replace the existing light fixture's electrical box with a fan-rated electrical box, which is specifically designed to handle the extra weight and vibration. These boxes will be labeled as suitable for ceiling fan support and will indicate the maximum weight they can hold. Before you begin, also consider if you need an extension rod for a high ceiling or a special mount for an angled ceiling.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.
