"Seth showed up and was very knowledgeable in what we were looking for. His crew showed up on time layer out the lighting and ceiling fan to make the most use of the light in the room. Cut in ceiling added fan box and ran wiring for the can lights. Took the time to cover stuff in the living room and once finished did a great clean up. Crew was very friendly and listened to my concerns. Very happy with final product. Will be contacting again for future work."

"We needed a bathroom ceiling fan/light installed to remove moisture from the bathroom.  I had purchased the fixture myself but when I opened it to install it, realized this was too much for our limited handyman experience. We contacted Randr Power Washing and scheduled a date to have them install this.  The gentleman that came to the house, was very thorough, had no problems installing the fixture, he even primed and painted the ceiling in the bathroom after installation and left a clean room behind. I would certainly recommend them and am thrilled with the job they did!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Many ceiling fan mounts feature a design that can accommodate slight slopes by using a ball joint mechanism at the end of the downrod. If your ceiling has a steeper slope than your fan allows for, you can install a downrod that will allow your fan to safely hang below the slope.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.
