"The drainage and prep work for my asphalt driveway done by Wyatt Close left me with 6 inches of mud that he caused to slide into my garage. He made no attempt to clean up the mess he caused. He also personally hit my main water line into the house and broke it. I was left to get rid of 40 tons of contaminated gravel and wash mud out of my new garage. He left me his mini excavator and told me I would figure it out on my own. I received a bill ($2000) for the use of his equipment to fix the damage he caused. His was below substandard and he kept informing me that the mud in the garage was my fault. He claimed he was going to make it right ... Instead he whined about his equipment being dirty and blamed the situation on me. Wyatt Close is the most unprofessional individual I have ever had to work with. However, if you enjoy being lied to and your property destroyed, he's the guy you want. "

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You can start your search for a reputable arborist online by looking for professionals who hold the proper licensing and are fully insured. Next, read through some online reviews to see what kind of service the expert brings to the table, and confirm that they don’t have a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Finally, you can ask the professional for a list of references and then call them to ask questions about the service, professionalism, value, and more that the expert brings to the table.

Generally, avoid trimming trees in the summer (with the exception of pruning fruit trees as needed). Trees use a lot of energy in the summer, most of which is relegated to new growth. If you chop it too early, you could stunt the next season's growth. Again, when in doubt, do some research based on the specific tree type.

A tree branch should start to form roots in about three months. It can take about a year for a tree branch to develop roots strong enough to go in the ground. For best results, start several branches because, no matter how closely you follow instructions, they won’t all form roots. Compost any that aren’t thriving.

We recommend removing the stump, and grinding is a popular way to do it. You can also dig out small stumps or stumps that have fully decayed instead of grinding them. However, don’t try using acids or fire for killing a tree stump, which is a fire hazard and illegal in many areas.

Leaving the stump alone invites eventual problems, including attracting termites, mold, and fungi.

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.
