"The service that Martinez and his crew provided me was excellent. A 7 out of 5 stars. Martinez and his crew arrived the day we had agreed on and they were on time and extremely thorough in their clean up. I needed a tree, it s stump removed and a very large tree trimmed that was very close to my house. I interviewed four different tree removal companies and Martinez s company was 30% lower than anyone else s. I would highly recommend their company for tree, stump removal or trimming a tree."

"I can not say enough good things about this company. We had a tree fall on our house last night during the storm. I called them and they showed up in a timely manner. Gave me an amazing price and got right to taking care of the tree. They took the extra time to make sure they did not add to the damage. They was very nice and professional. I also got an estimate on two more trees."

"Caleb and his buddy really went above and beyond with my project! Their rates were fair for the amount of work they did, and they provided a lot of helpful input along the way. They were also super quick to respond, arriving on time and doing a really thorough job. Since this was my first time using a tree removal service, I was a bit skeptical at first, but they reassured me and made sure I had everything I needed before and after the job. I was truly impressed by their hardworking attitude and attention to detail before they finished. I definitely recommend their services for any home projects—you'll be glad you did! Thanks so much, guys—you really rock!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

It depends on where you live—but in most areas, leaves begin falling in September and continue falling until January or February. Warmer regions, such as Southern states, may see leaves fall a bit later in the calendar year. It also depends on the type of trees in your yard and their maturity.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

Usually, trees cannot grow back after their stump has been ground, but some very hearty types of trees can. For example, if you have a black locust or Redford pear, the grinding will need to go deep to prevent them from growing back. Ask your tree service or stump removal expert whether your tree can resprout after its stump is ground down.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.
