"Firefly Anything Tech overcharged me, delivered substandard work, and exploited a difficult situation for profit. I strongly advise others to stay away. On March 31, 2025, I paid Firefly Anything Tech $18,167.22 for a range of home improvement services. A key issue remains unresolved regarding $1,194 charged for labor and materials related to a cabinet door installation and drywall repair. The workmanship on both was unacceptable: the drywall repair was so poorly executed that I had to hire another contractor to fix it, and I personally had to redo the cabinet installation. Although Nathan was involved in the original job, he did not perform the cabinet or drywall work in question. Firefly?s only proposed solution has been to send Nathan back out, which does not address the quality concerns or reflect accountability for the work that was done. As a customer, I am refusing to have the same company return to correct work that was unsatisfactory in the first place."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The National Electrical Code (NEC) places a limit of eight outlets on one 15-amp circuit to maintain electrical load values below 80% of the breaker switch’s capacity. To ensure the safety of your home’s electrical system and remain up to code, do not add additional outlets to a 15-amp circuit above the legal limit.

Yes, you must use the proper wire nut that fits your wire gauge. Using a wire nut that’s too big or too small can cause your connection to fail, short circuit, or disconnect entirely. Ensuring that you have the proper wire nut size will guarantee that your connection lasts as long as possible.

If there isn’t a C-wire on your thermostat, you can repurpose the G-wire. The G-wire controls the fan independently of the other controls on your thermostat, so the fan-only function won’t work if you decide to go this route.

Outlets with only two slots have no ground connection. That’s more common on very old outlets, which means it’s more likely the outlet won’t be polarized. You’ll have to closely examine the slots to see if there’s a size difference indicating polarization. Keep in mind outlets this old are usually out of code and should be replaced if you’re doing any electrical work.

There is no blanket figure for a residential home’s electrical load, since load varies by the size of the home, how many appliances are used, and the efficiency of their electrical systems. Typically, however, it’s safe to assume 40 to 60 amps is the average electrical load of a residential home.
