"George did a great job fixing some nagging problems with our siding. Not a huge repair job, but he took his time and was very thorough. He was extremely polite, and very easy to talk to. I would highly recommend him."

"We met the representatives of Mr. Roof at the Home and Garden show. There are  lot of our community neighbors getting their roofs replaced so we thought we better get ours checked. Song Hong came out, they walked the roof and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we did not have any damage nor did we need to have any work done. We really appreciated their being on time, but most of all being honest in their appraisal of the roof. They gave us a bid for future reference and it seemed more than fair. It's nice knowing that you can contact a vendor like Mr. Roof and know that they are honest and professional.

"Great company for vinyl fence. Top notch product. A little on the expensive side, but project manager Don was great to work with. He took care of getting the paperwork to the HOA, so we could get the project going. He also kept me informed along the way. The installer was hardworking and nice. He kept the job site clean. This Company has the best vinyl fence warranty."

"Fredy and his team did an awesome job sanding and then staining my second story deck. In addition to replacing some old boards. He completed the project within a week of me submitting my request. He sent me the stain color options to choose from. He had a very positive demeanor and they worked hard in the heat to get it all done. I’m very pleased with the result!!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Wood siding requires that air can circulate behind it and that water can drain away if necessary. Your home needs a water-restrictive barrier underneath furring strips to achieve the air and water gap.

The main differences between dutch lap versus clapboard siding have to do with their design and texture. Clapboard siding features flat, beveled planks stacked at a slight angle, offering a simple, traditional look. Dutch lap siding features a subtly concave surface along with a notch that creates a shadowed look between the boards. This eye-catching design often resembles wood grain and introduces a noticeable shadow line, making it more visually interesting compared to the simpler look of clapboard siding.

Hardie board is more expensive than vinyl siding. Vinyl siding costs $3 to $12 per square foot, on average, with cost skewing toward the lower end of that range. Hardie board siding costs $7 to $18 per square foot, depending on the style, color, and trim. However, it lasts twice as long and often looks nicer, meaning you’ll see a higher bump in your home value and greater curb appeal from Hardie board.

Stucco siding is the most energy-efficient option on its own, but you can choose insulated vinyl, insulated metal, or insulated brick or stone facade siding that improves energy efficiency even further. These options include a layer of foam insulation under the siding to reduce heat transfer between your living space and the exterior. If you live in a particularly sunny climate, a reflective option like insulated steel or aluminum siding can maximize efficiency.

Composite siding, with proper care, can last 30 years and sometimes more. Because its color has a tendency to fade, you might want to re-paint it every five years or so. Before purchasing composite siding, check the manufacturer’s warranty—you should have a long-term warranty to back up the quality of the product.
