"Very good.  Both crews were prompt.  The gutter crew did not come prepared with the supplies for installing the gutter covers as listed in the estimate but they were able to get the supplies and it did not delay the job.

"Although the budget did not work out, I was impressed with the professionalism of Ameriside Exteriors. They did not push a product and listened to what we were wanting to do. The offered advice on more cost effective ways to accomplish what we wanted. I would recommend them!"

"Dakota and his team are amazing. My roof was done quickly and efficiently with work I didn’t know we needed. His team also made it super easy for us to get what we needed from our insurance company to afford it as well. Will definitely work with them again and would recommend them to anyone."

"Fredy and his team did an awesome job sanding and then staining my second story deck. In addition to replacing some old boards. He completed the project within a week of me submitting my request. He sent me the stain color options to choose from. He had a very positive demeanor and they worked hard in the heat to get it all done. I’m very pleased with the result!!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible, but professional installation ensures weatherproofing, insulation, and proper fastening.

Yes, you can install siding over stucco, but it's crucial to ensure the stucco is in good condition first. Before proceeding, inspect the stucco for any signs of damage, leaks, or mold growth. If you discover water damage, mold, or have ongoing leak issues, it's recommended to remove the stucco completely. This step prevents future problems like mold and pest infestations and allows a professional to repair or replace any damaged sheathing underneath. If the stucco is sound, the installation process involves attaching furring strips to the wall's framing directly through the stucco. The new siding is then installed onto these furring strips. A professional may also need to adjust window and door openings to prevent them from being recessed behind the new siding, which can cause aesthetic issues and create potential leak points.

Vinyl siding is the cheapest option in terms of upfront costs. The average cost to install vinyl siding is around $12,173, with certain types like vinyl shake, clapboard, or dutch lap costing as little as $2 to $3 per square foot. While vinyl is very low-cost, it may not last as long as natural materials or metal, with a typical lifespan of 20 to 40 years. In contrast, metal siding is more expensive initially but can save you money in the long run due to its longer lifespan, which is often double that of vinyl. It's recommended to consult a siding professional to determine if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your specific home.

Choosing siding combinations that look good together comes down to finding textures and colors that complement each other. You want some contrast so that your home doesn’t look boring or too uniform, but you also want the materials to play off of each other so that each makes the other stand out. It’s a good idea to hire a siding professional to create 3D renderings for you so you can get a sense of what your home will look and feel like before you get started.

While insulated vinyl siding has one of the highest R-values out there, there are a few alternatives worth considering. When paired with a layer of insulation, manufactured stone veneer has an R-value of 4.5. Composite siding also provides good insulation with an R-value of 2 to 4.
