"I'd like to share my disappointment and frustration with the recent bathroom remodeling project that Install America completed for me. The project was signed on October 29, 2022, started on January 12, 2023 and was supposed to be completed within 1-2 weeks. However, the project did not finish until March 27, 2023, taking over 2.5 months instead of the promised timeline. This significant delay caused me a great deal of inconvenience as it disrupted all my life plans. Additionally, living on the construction site for 2.5 months was unhealthy and stressful, which exhausted my nerves. Furthermore, I was disappointed with the lack of from the assigned project manager. The project manager never called back to provide updates on the project's progress, which left me in the dark about the timeline for completion. To make matters worse, after agreeing on the cost of the project, the salesperson added an additional $10K, referring to the fact that something was forgotten. This is unprofessional and unfair. Quality and quantity of work performed does not match the cost of the project, and I feel that I am being overcharged for services that were not adequately provided and while I have attempted to address my concerns with management, I have been met with resistance and have not received an itemized bill that justifies the charges. In response to these inconveniences, Install America graciously installed two additional niches (that were already in the contract), which is not adequate compensation for the stress and inconvenience caused. The $500 compensation was also insufficient. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the service provided by Install America. I do not recommend Install America to anyone. Stay away from them. Smart locks offer around the same level of safety as conventional locks with keys. The best way to secure your door locks is to combine routine locking mechanisms with other home safety features, like lighting, motion sensors, security cameras, and window and door sensors. 

Smart locks have the upper hand when it comes to convenience—you won't have to worry about your key not turning in the lock or fumbling around in your bag for your keys—but beyond that, any door with deadbolts will offer a similar degree of security.

Most modern door knobs will all fit in standard, modern doors, so if you know your door was made in the last 50 years or so, you should be fine buying a standard replacement door knob. The only exception would be a thumb latch handleset for an exterior door, as this type of door knob may not fit your door without drilling a mounting hole for the bottom of the handle. Antique or custom doors might also have different sizes and knob mounting holes, so call in a professional if you don’t believe your door is a standard one.

You should prime interior doors before painting for the best results. If you do paint directly on the wood, you could see some of the grain patterns show through the paint, in which case you’d need to apply additional coats. Priming the surface before painting will reduce the number of coats and can better cover the grain pattern for a clean, finished look.

Regularly lubricate moving parts, check for loose screws, and clean tracks to prevent debris buildup.

Start by checking the top or side edge of the door. Look for a certification label or metal tag stamped with details like the fire rating and information on the manufacturer. Even if it’s painted over, the tag should still be visible. Next, look along the edges for slim intumescent strips. They’re designed to swell up and seal gaps when exposed to heat. Finally, check if the door closes itself. Most fire doors have a self-closing mechanism, like an overhead closer or spring hinges. If none of these are obvious, contact a fire safety professional to help verify your door.
