I said "Let's go for it" and they were scheduled to arrive within 5 days. The crew was Patrick himself, four general labor guys, and a fellow business partner who led the install on the sprinkler system. They were quick, professional, worked hard the entire time, and created a great landscape setup. The majority of the expense was around the bushes and shrubs, of which over 40 new plants went in, and so I knew I got a great price. He was punctual and easy to communicate with in person, over the phone, by text message, and by email-- I ended up touching base with him on several occasions. I'm very happy with the quality of work performed. His crew didn't cut corners and he made sure everything was done right. My project grew from the original work I requested, but Welsey was quick to accommodate. I appreciated staying involved in the project as I adjusted exactly what I had in mind. I ended up taking a can of spray paint and outlining where I wanted beds to run. His crew pulled out a bunch of old stumps and roots from brush that I previously cut back. His crew then cut along the edges, adding topsoil, and a thick layer of mulch. I also went to a nursery and picked out about 25 plants (mostly azaleas). I paid for the plants (using a discount under his wholesale license), then Welsey picked everything up and planted. A few other details: Welsey's crew hit a sprinkler system line when planting (I wasn't surprised), but he's having someone come out to patch. He took a $500 deposit, and the remaining $1,300 balance once I was comfortable with how everything looked. He takes credit card, which I think is convenient. I paid $500 for the plants separately, and had an hourly rate for planting the bushes. I enjoyed being somewhat hands on with this project, but I'm sure Wesley would have done a great job with limited direction as well

They were careful and I didn't have any damage to my existing shrubbery, irrigation system, etc. Wesley returned toward the end of the job and checked out the work and ensured I was happy with the work done. "I just used Carefree Irrigation services based on recommendations from others. My experience with Carefree unfortunately was not as great as others have mentioned. Carefree came to my house to turn on our irrigation system and perform a backflow test. Speaking with the owner before anyone came over the phone, I asked if they had a summer and winter program and he told me that during the fall, his customers pay for summer and fall services and get a free backflow test. I asked him since we had just moved here from NC if I could go ahead and pay him for summer and winter and receive a free backflow test and he told me no. When I asked why, he said it was because his accounting service was not able to keep track of payments. I felt that this was unfair and concerning that a business was not set up with accurate and complete accounting for payments received, but I agreed to have them turn on our system since others liked them so well. During start up, our backflow valve leaked so the representative told us that he needed to simply replace the gasket and that would resolve the issue. I should have asked right then how much a gasket would cost, but I really didn't expect it to be that much. I asked about making a payment before they left, but was told that I would get a bill in the mail. Got the bill and the gasket replacement alone was $110!! Wow. The total bill was $295! When talking with the owner about the bill, he told me that I am paying a service visit (even though they were already at the house performing a service to turn on the irrigation and do a backflow test) and his overhead and apparently more than $50/hr. I know this falls on me for not asking enough questions and I will of course pay the bill, but I don't plan on using Carefree Irrigation in the future.
