Johnson City Handyman Service is a family-owned, full service home repair and remodeling company with over 20 years of experience. Remodeling one house at a time, we have become one of the Tri Cities, TN finest handyman and home remodeling companies. We typically offer flat rate pricing so that you know your complete cost without worrying about the amount of hours that will go into the project.

"Dale accepted the job after negotiation of the price of $1500.00 to paint 3 smaller porches, 2 larger porches and 2 homes painting all shutters. There were also some boards needing repair on porches. Dale showed up over a span of a month to complete the work..it was summer so I did not complain. There was a board to my surprise on the other house that was in repair on the porch and he was asked to fix it instead of painting over it. That was when I was informed by him that he had to take other jobs because he was losing money on this job and that is what was taking so long to complete this job. That was the last straw. If he didn't want the job he should not have accepted the contract for $1500. I paid $500 up front, $500 in the middle of the mess and I paid him the last $500 at the end of that conversation via text and told him not to return. Would I ever hire him again, NO. Were all services performed, NO. This is not a way to run a business and take advantage of your customers."

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

Before you begin caulking a shower, you’ll need to use a utility knife or solvent to remove the old caulk and inspect the area for mold. If needed, take appropriate steps to get rid of the mold, then wipe everything down with dish soap and warm water before letting it dry completely. Finally, surround the caulking area with two strips of blue painter’s tape—one above the joint where you’re caulking and another below it.

A peeling bathtub is not a good thing. It’s a sign that the finish is coming off, and continued exposure to water and cleaning products can continue to damage the finish and eventually the underlying structure of the tub. What starts as a few chips or flakes can worsen into large chunks peeling off.

When buying caulk, look for ones labeled for tub and tile. These have either acrylic latex or silicone compounds. This allows the caulk to stick to smooth surfaces and prevent mildew from forming.

Bathtub refinishing refers to the entire process of resurfacing a bathtub. Reglazing is one step in the bathtub refinishing process. To refinish a bathtub, a refinishing professional will clean the tub, protect the surrounding areas, remove the existing glaze, sand and prepare the surface, apply the new glaze coating, caulk the tub, and replace the fixtures.

There are a few signs, both obvious and not so obvious, that it's time to refinish your bathtub. While some of these signs aren't an urgent problem, others could lead to significant damage if left untreated. Signs you should look out for include:

  • Rust stains, which signal the tub's enamel or surface sealer is deteriorating

  • Small chips, which can grow into larger chunks and can lead to rusting

  • Discoloration, which doesn't lead to a more significant problem but can be unsightly

  • Dirty surfaces, which means that the tub glaze is breaking down and allowing dirt to seep below the coating
