"Jacob W. did an amazing job when he came out and inspected my cabin's foundation. He was on time, professional, and friendly. The best part was that he gave me the great news that there were no foundation issues to be concerned about and that everything looked good."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired them to demolish and haul off an old shed (12x16 ft.) and do the site prep and construction of a framed gravel pad for a new one. The work was challenging: narrow, steep, curving driveway with a gate; fence on side and back of the work area; junk, including an old concrete pad, under the old shed; sloped site. The owner discussed the job and provided cost estimate(s), negotiated schedule, worked with me to resolve unforeseen issues, focused on the job so it was completed in a timely manner, and was pleasant to deal with. The work was done by an experienced, careful, hard-working, and reliable person who did an outstanding job. I would hire them again and recommend them to anyone who needs site prep work done."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, masonry is more expensive than concrete because the labor is much more involved. With masonry, your expert will build your project from the ground up, one piece at a time, ensuring they use the proper amount of mortar or grout during construction and keeping the project level or plumb. Pouring concrete can also be labor-intensive, but it’s a bit less involved. It requires building a mold, pouring the concrete, and letting it cure. The less intensive labor makes concrete a more affordable option in most cases.

Brick stain doesn’t peel or chip and is much more durable than painting. That’s because the staining is absorbed into the brick instead of lingering on the surface as paint does. The color retains even under extreme weather conditions. Therefore, brick stain will save you a lot of time and cost on maintenance in the long run.

Granite is the strongest commercially available stone houses are built from. It’s also more commonly available, which means transport costs aren’t as high because a granite quarry isn’t too far from a build site. Limestone and sandstone are popular materials as well, but they aren’t as strong or weather-resistant as granite.

They offer durability, aesthetic appeal, and resistance to weathering compared to concrete or asphalt.

It is possible, albeit a lot slower, to break up a rock using water. You would do this by freezing and thawing the water. You could create some initial holes or cracks in the rock, then pour water into the cracks or holes and allow them to freeze (so it's best to do this in winter or in colder climates). Since water expands when it freezes, this puts pressure on the inside of the rock and causes it to crack. You could continue to pour more water in and let it freeze to continue to break up the rock.
