"A little pricey, but when you're trying to get something fixed outside of major cities in the SE AL area, Mr. Electric is about the only pro who would even return my calls! Not to mention, when they said they'd be at a certain spot at a certain time, they were there! Literally not a single other "professional" in the area that I've worked with has been able to match that service. Sometimes you really *do* get what you pay for."

Grounded electrical outlets are usually three-pronged. You can also look for a grounding clip in your outlet boxes or use a circuit tester. If you’re unsure, consult a suitably qualified electrician regarding your home's electrical safety.

If the electrical wires you’re working with are too short, one of the easiest ways to elongate it is to extend them with a push-in connector. These user-friendly tools help you splice two wires together with little fuss or the need for extra tools, like a crimping tool, which is an older way of extending wires. As long as you can stripe the ends of a wire, using a push-in connector shouldn’t be an issue.

  • Your home is a jungle of power strips

The size of your home will help determine the size of your electrical panel. Usually, the decision comes down to a 100-amp electrical panel versus a 200-amp panel. Smaller homes, especially those without an HVAC system, may be able to get by with a 100-amp panel. 

If you have a larger home or need to power AC, a 200-amp panel should be the best fit. It’s unlikely that you’ll need a larger panel than that unless you have a larger home or unique electrical needs, but an electrician can help you make the final call.
