Most of what we do is full tear-out and replacement. We remove the old cracked, settling, or spalling concrete, rebuild the base the right way, and pour new. We also handle driveway extensions and widening, aprons and curb cuts, stamped and decorative concrete, and concrete repair.\n\nOur crews have poured more than 38,000 residential concrete projects. Every job gets a dedicated project coordinator, up-front pricing with no surprise change orders, and a final walkthrough before we call it finished. Licensed and insured.\n\nNeed a new driveway? "Prompt…courteous and thoroughly professional. Nick’s crew arrived on time every day…worked an entire day….and cleaned up and hauled all trash away. It was obvious to us from the start that they were top line professionals and the deck they built for us reflects that. We would recommend (already have) them without hesitation!!! /D. "After interviewing several companies, I chose GC Construction to replace and extend an existing driveway. They delivered perfectly and as discussed. Geovanni, the owner, made very helpful suggestions prior to the project. Their price was excellent. Communication was excellent. Their crew worked hard and meticulously. The end product turned out beautiful. I highly recommend GC construction."

"Excellent contracting experience. Joel is a very personable contractor who fulfills everything he says he will do. His crew did a wonderful job on the driveway and sidewalk…I have received a lot of compliments on the appearance of my property because of those two features. I will hire him again, I am sure."

"I am a demanding customer, Eric was always patient to explain anything I had questions about. Mike and Eric rebuilt my unsafe deck with a beautifully built safely constructed one. If weather affected them working I was notified. I had a few less than desirable encounters with other projects at my house and was thrilled to have the experience of working with them on this one. Definitely recommend them for your next project!"

"Fantastic! John and his crew showed up when they said they wood and got right to work taking down our front deck and building a better larger one. Then did the same with the back deck. Tore off the old vinyl and redid the new vinyl, along with painting the foundation and the windows and sill. Put in a concrete walkway to our driveway and put on seamless gutters. His prices were very fair and it worked out to be one stop shopping for everything we needed."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

In the United States, roads are usually categorized as one of three types: public roads, other drivable roads, and non-drivable roads. These categories dictate how a road can be used; a non-drivable road might be classified that way because it is heavily damaged and unsafe for cars.

In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.

While some areas may allow for a slope of up to 20%, this is often the maximum slope for driveways, with a few exceptions of up to 25%. Other regions may have a maximum of 12%, 15%, or 18%, so check with your local building department to ensure you’re laying a driveway that is up to code for your location.

If you’re looking for a similar, eco-friendly driveway material, you might consider one of these options:

  • Permeable pavement: This material is sometimes called “pervious” or “porous” pavement; it allows stormwater to drain into the subbase, eliminating storm drain costs.

  • Gravel: Consider paving your driveway with locally sourced gravel. By sourcing from a nearby source, your money won’t fund international shipping and will be invested back into your local community.

  • Natural stone pavers: Because natural stone pavers are made from organically-produced stone, there’s no new manufacturing required, limiting the environmental impact. In addition, water easily flows and drains through the gaps in the pavers.
