The quote entered here is for a reconstruction of our fireplace (and support below). He did an INCREDIBLE job. He is by FAR the most professional, thorough, trustworthy and considerate (very neat, never left a mess, no collateral damage) construction professional I have come across in a long, long time. My husband and I are so very happy we met Rich and his manager, Chris.
The fireplace is in our living room, which has a cathedral ceiling. Originally in drywall and a cracked, flat hearth with a ugly, pitted brass frame, it is nothing short of reborn! Rich determined it was necessary to do extensive support work below the chimney as our living room is on the second floor. The original support work was inadequate to support facing the entire column with stone (the sagging was obvious). Rich took careful calculations, spoke with an engineer, then explained the two options that would maintain integrity and stability. It was necessary to install multiple, huge engineered beams in the garage below the fireplace/living room- which was done thoroughly and without damage to our garage (looks better now than it did) or garage doors. He then prepped the column the fireplace was in to support the weight of the stone and 55" TV we decided to mount above the fireplace and built the hearth to support the granite we chose. He made suggestions re: the type of fireplace we might like (I chose a pattern from a fireplace design website), then scouted out various options for stone and met me at a local tile company. I purchased directly from both the tile company and granite company, thereby saving me money (no markup). His tile/stone subcontracting crew was equally professional, punctual and courteous (Jime and crew from North Augusta). Rich and Chris also ended up removing some old speakers that had been mounted in the ceiling, removing an old ceiling fan, mounting new lights, mounting a new ceiling fan on the third floor, installing the TV mount and the TV. Chris even helped me with the Smart TV software and helped me sign up on Hulu Plus. They are full service!!!! I can't say enough how happy we are with the outcome- it looks EXACTLY like the picture I picked out- it is like magic!!! And all at a fair price. We have since had him come back and finish out a laundry room that another contractor abandoned us with ( AND TOOK $2 THOUSAND DOLLARS-AVOID CT construction and Farm Management). We already have a couple of other projects for him in the new year!!!
THANK YOU RICH HINSON/ALTA CONSTRUCTION AND ANGIE'S LIST!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

The installers were great!
Fantastic service. I couldnâ t be more pleased with the finished work. Dave knew exactly what I wanted- and nailed it. We wanted a 65â TV and sound bar mounted about 7-8 feet high (above a giant mantle)â ¦plus we wanted all the wires/cables concealed. He did a fantastic job. About as...
I was satisfied with the overall installation of the requested network wiring. The job took longer that I had anticipated. The installer made sure all the connections worked properly prior to leaving the job site.
Excellent and professional installation with significant attention to detail and crosscheck by owner/staff.
Cesar and his helper came in, reviewed what I wanted done, helped my husband move our large tv screen, and got right to work. They had cleaned up and gone by mid afternoon. Very nice, and did a great job!
Their installers did a poor job about running the ducts they had to come back and do it again and they had to send a second group of installers back.
Poorly. 1. Initially, the receptionist mumbled the name of the company called. This was the beginning of my having an uncomfortable sense of the company. The responses of the receptionist continued to indicate a lack of professionalism 2. Consequently, I'm not surprised that after 3...

The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.
If your TV antenna is good quality and was installed by a professional, you can expect it to last between 10 and 20 years without needing repair or replacement. This can vary based on your geographic location, weather conditions, and antenna location.
The cost to repair your TV antenna is around $200 for the average homeowner. However, charges could be as low as $60 or as high as $450. Factors such as multidirectional or unidirectional, indoor or outdoor, and amplified or non-amplified all play an essential role in determining the cost of your repair. For example, outdoor antennas cost more on average to repair than indoor ones, much like amplified antennas cost more to repair than unamplified ones.
Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
Before your TV antenna stops working, there are a few ways to tell it’s starting to break. Some common signs that your antenna needs repair include:
A repetitive “no signal” issue
A redundant “searching” issue
Increased signal issues during a cloudy or rainy day
A sudden drop in signal strength, regardless of the weather
If you’re experiencing these problems, you’ll want to ensure that your cables are still in good shape and have not deteriorated. In addition, check to make sure that your cables are firmly in place at the wall outlet. Finally, check the position of your antenna to ensure there are no obstructions in its path. If you’ve checked your antenna thoroughly and are still having these problems, a repair is most likely needed by an antenna technician.
