"Beyond great experience. Great customer service. I originally was interested in tankless. Paul went over everything in detail. He had a better option. I will be using him as my new plumber. No fuss, no muss. Great overall experience. Highly recommend for any of your plumbing needs."

"The owner answered my call and was polite, knowledgable and friendly as I told him I had a leak from my upstairs bathroom. However, the plumber who actually came to my home was not the owner and was a bit brash, although seemingly knowledgable, so I initially didn't mind. I simply needed a new wax ring, he said, which made sense. After telling me how the one I had on my toilet was a more expensive kind that always leaked and how the cheap $1 ones work the best and only take ten minutes to install, when I then asked how much this would cost, he changed his tune and told me this was a near $200 job that he was actually giving me a deal on for less. It just felt like I got bamboozled. Then after this repair, he said he checked the toilet tank and said he found another problem (one I didn't know about), and that he would need to come back the next day because he didn't have the part on hand. All-in-all, what was supposed to be a ten minute job with a $1 part ended up being $214. I didn't trust what he was saying, but felt he did have the knowledge to repair toilets and I didn't have a choice with my guests arriving and the incredibly busy schedule I had that day. I just felt like he was going to get my bill over $200 no matter what. I called to talk with the owner on three occasions (and waited two months here to make this review because I wanted to be absolutely fair and talk with the owner first), but he simply won't call me back- and if he has, he didn't use the business number and hasn't left a message so I'd know. Needless to say I won't be using this company again, but I not because they don't know how to repair, but because of poor customer service. Customers want to know not only what's going on and how much it's going to cost (not variable pricing- it is either a specific price or not!) or otherwise they feel you're taking advantage of them. When you say how simple and fast a repair is and how inexpensive the parts are, then how can you justify over $200 for less than an hour's worth of time together both days (the second day only because he didn't have the part on hand), including the in and out and all the talking? Over $200 an hour is expensive for suburban Summerville in my opinion."

"Claudio and his crew were so helpful with our bathroom remodel. They kept the remodel contained to the bathroom, did a great job, and we are so pleased with the final result. The crew was totally reliable and trustworthy. I did not worry about leaving them in our home when I needed to leave. I would recommend them and would use their services again!"

"From start to finish, Joe, Nick, and Raymond were complete professionals. I was quoted a price upfront, and it remained consistent throughout the entire project with no surprises. I could always count on them and their crew to arrive on time each day and keep the work moving smoothly. They completely remodeled both of my bathrooms, and the quality of the workmanship exceeded my expectations. The entire process was organized, stress-free, and professionally managed. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, and skilled contractor for a bathroom remodel."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Hard water that is caused by high concentrations of calcium, magnesium, and potassium in a water supply is the leading cause of buildup in pipes. Hard water can be fixed by different types of water purification.

PEX pipe is safe for drinking water, though it wasn't always. PEX was introduced in European water supply systems in the 1980s, but early versions of the piping deteriorated when exposed to the higher chlorine levels in U.S. water supplies. Antioxidants were added to PEX piping to meet U.S. potable drinking water standards. Today, it’s commonly used for drinking water.

There are several signs that can indicate you have air in your pipes, including unusual noises coming from the pipes, like banging and whistling, and inconsistent water flow and pressure. Spitting from the faucet right when you turn the water on is another indication that you might have air in the pipes.

It is generally recommended to schedule a professional plumbing inspection annually, though an inspection every two years may be sufficient for newer homes. The ideal frequency depends on several factors, including the age of your plumbing system, water quality (such as hardness), and any previous plumbing issues. More frequent checks are advisable for older homes or those with a history of problems. Additionally, if your property has mature trees with extensive root systems, more frequent inspections are beneficial as roots can crack sewer and water lines. Regular maintenance helps identify potential issues early, preventing costly repairs, and can include checking for leaks, inspecting connections, and ensuring pipes and fixtures are in good working condition to prolong the life of your plumbing system.

Yes. There are a variety of standard pipe sizes used in plumbing. The main supply line connecting your home to the street is either 3/4 or 1 inch in diameter. Supply lines are 3/4 inch in diameter. Individual components are 1/2 inch in diameter. Meanwhile, your main drainpipe is often 4 inches wide. Most shower and bathtub drains are 2 inches in diameter, most toilet drains are 3 inches in diameter, and most sink drainpipes are 1 1/4 or 1 ½ inches in diameter.
