"It went fantastic. My wife had gone to the hospital for a total left hip replacement. After the operation the surgeon told me there had been some complications and told me I would need hand rails in my garage from the garage floor up 4 steps to the kitchen hallway for her to get in the house after his release of her from the hospital. I did not have hand rails on those steps or the front porch steps either. He told me they would be required because of the serious nature of her conditon. This was her second operation in three and 1/2 weeks. I googled fence contractors in lexington, sc with and 5 fence companies came up. Hendrix Fence company was the first one with a phone number. This was on a Wed and I needed the rails up in 48 hours. I knew it was a very short time frame and went ahead and called Hendrix Fence Co. A very compashinate lady named Jennie Hendrix answered the phone and I told her of my plight and asked if her company could please do me this favor on the short notice. She said she would have her son call me shortly. Her son did call me within 20 minutes from the time I talked to his mother Jennie, said he was close by and would come by within the hour. He did come by and said he could do the job on Friday morning two days later. He had to fabricate and weld some pieces in his shop on Thursday and would be at my house to install the railings Friday at 9:30 am with his brother. They showed up on time Friday and did the install which was stellar in about 2 hours. It was cold and rainy those two days but they did not complain, had excellent attitudes and gave me exactly what I needed for my wife to come to come home that same day by ambulance. After my initial contact Mrs. Jennie Hendrix, Her husband Mr. David Hendrix , Sr. called me to make sure his son had contacted me and said the job would be done right and on time in 48 hours. I have dealt with all kind of contractors all my life but have never, ever dealt with a company like Hendrix Fence Co. in Gaston, SC that serves the Lexington, SC area. I had talked with 5 other companies about my immediate needs for my wife and the all said they could not even come look at the job until January 2, 2019. Waiting till then was "not an option" and Jennie Hendrix said she understood my short term needs and would help me immediately. Hendrix Fence Co., the owners Jennie and David Hendrix and their two sons who did the installation within 48 hours of call for help were the greatest, and most caring people who understood my immediate needs and were willing to go the extra mile on 2 days notice to help me out. They are a family operation who have been in business 30 years and know how to treat a customer right. I cannot say how much their concern and follow-up have helped me and my wife. We are both 76 years old and it's great to know that there some people and companies that still care about their customers and reputation. I would rate them 10+ stars if I could. I recommend them highly to anyone who needs even a small job like mine or any kind of fencing or structures of any type put on there property. I cannot thank them enough. E. "Dan was very prompt in scheduling the appointment to give an estimate.  He really wanted the work and offered a discount if he could go ahead and get started.  He was very fast.  The only criticism I have is that he didn't sink the fence posts very deep and used a 4x4 post for a gate post so the fence is a little wobbly and the gate already sags a bit.  The biggest issue is that we agreed to a "dog-eared" picket and he set the top rail in line with the top of the pickets rather than a few inches below as most fences are so you cannot see the dog-eared top of the pickets.  I was not able to see the pickets clearly in the pictures he sent (I do not live in the house where he was doing the fence).  When I did see them, the job was finished and I had already paid him.  In fairness, I did not demand that he re do the fence, because there would be no way to do it without taking the fence completely apart.  My issue is that he is the fence guy and I should not have to be the one to also say, "oh, by the way, be sure the dog eared pickets show."

"We had to get a large retaining wall beside our driveway replaced. There was a very large holly bush that was causing the wall to bulge over the years. The estimates for the wall were all over the place (as high as almost 10k). We received many quotes and we went with Live Oak because their pricing was competitive but especially because they REALLY know their stuff about drainage. They removed the holly, completely replaced the retaining wall, graded the yard after removing old drains and adding a new one, and planted new shrubs. It was a large job and a bit nerve wracking but Tonya was awesome. She was available at any time and would respond to my texts if I had questions (even after hours and on the weekend). We had setbacks with bad weather but since her communication was so great, I wasn't concerned that we were behind schedule. I knew she was on top of it. The end result was a great looking wall."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

The cheapest farm fences are typically wire fences, which cost less to install than traditional lumber fences. Barbed wire is one of the most inexpensive options due to its simple materials, making it a good choice for low budgets. It is suitable for confining docile animals in large spaces, as it provides a visual barrier and a mild deterrent. Other options like hog wire and woven wire fences are also cost-effective because they require less lumber than a full wooden fence. These types of wire fences are strong, long-lasting, and relatively easy to repair, though they are often considered less aesthetically pleasing than wood.

In most cases, wrought iron fencing will cause your property value to increase. Most types of fence—but especially high-quality wrought iron fences—make your home more secure and deter burglars, which adds to property value. Fences can also help keep children and pets safe, which most homebuyers will appreciate. Wrought iron fences are also highly decorative, and while they don’t provide much privacy, they do add to your home’s curb appeal, which often leads to higher home value.

For the most part, goats are friendly and won’t charge at you, but there are exceptions to this rule, as there are with any animal handling practices. Typically, goats don’t attack unless they feel threatened. Avoid cornering or rough handling goats to avoid getting head-butted, bitten, or kicked, and always supervise goats when they’re near children or pets.

The cheapest fence to install is likely to be a wire fence, whether it’s hog wire or chicken wire. Closely following that is something repurposed that would be free to collect, like a DIY pallet fence. Most wire fences are available in large quantities at a low cost, so they’re great for homes with a tight budget.

Ideally, when you replace a fence post, you should also replace the concrete footing. The concrete bonds to your new post, creating a secure base. If you install a new post into old concrete, it won’t be as sturdy.

That said, it is possible. Sometimes the post will lift right out of the concrete. If not, you can use a high-lift car jack to try and lift the pole out of the footing. Put the new post into the same hole and backfill it with fast-setting concrete. Keep in mind, this won’t work well for metal posts.
