Customers say: Quality work

"Wow! Doug is the most amazing contractor I have ever worked with. He did a beautiful job on our front porch re-build and was truly helpful in offering suggestions as I was not really sure what I wanted to do as far as materials and design. He was always in touch, he did exactly what he said he was going to do and he did it when he said he would. Plus his work is absolutely beautiful and professionally done. We love our new porch - thank you so much Doug!!"

"I’d like to give a 5-star shout-out to SC Maintenance. We had a variety of repairs to be done on our mobile home and was looking for a “one call gets all” company and we found one. I was contacted within 5 minutes of sending an email, and arrangements were made, and met, for a walkthrough. After agreeing on a start date, Shawn and his crew showed up to work. This group of guys are delightful, knowledgeable and quick to offer options that allowed us to weigh in on the repairs and costs. The work was exceptional. We have plans for other repairs and I look forward to seeing all of them again."

"Mike was very professional and knowledgeable. He came out, surveyed the house and discussed my options and the work to be performed. His proposal was done on-site within about 5 to 10 minutes. After he gave me the proposal, he asked about staining my decks (I was going to do it myself and the materials were sitting on the porch). I advised him I was going to do it after I returned from vacation. He offered to take care of it for me, along with the painting, for no additional charge.
After I received a quote from a competitor (he knew who I had called w/o me telling him), I accepted his quote. Mike was out the next day (Friday) and power-washed the house. He returned the following Monday and painted the house and stained the deck.
While Mike impressed me with his professionalism and quick response - he's got very good customer service skills - I'm a little disappointed in the work due to the fact he didn't scrape and clean up the paint that had chipped away. If I had to do it again, I would make sure this was a part of the deal.
It may be partly my fault for not making it 100% clear this was part of my expectations. However, at the same time, I also feel he could have brought it up as well. For the price he charged, I really can't complain too much, considering he came in $2400.00 below his competitor (who didn't mention painting and scraping either) and the house looks good except for chipped sections.
No matter - i would still use him again - and will.
As a side-note, I found out Mike has other connections for handyman work and I'll more than likely go through him just simply because he's gained my trust.

"Brandon and his team repaired an a/c duct leak - then replaced the ceiling and wall that had been damaged. They did an excellent job and I would highly recommend. Wish I could give him 10 stars!"

"Colten was very polite and personable. He listened to concerns and took criticism well. He and his helpers are young with varied experience but lacking in drywall experience. They seemed to be in a rush to do job as quickly as possible and quality was lost. The job took much longer than needed because they failed to do everything they could at one time. As a result, the job took many days. A big concern was carelessness in protecting the home from dust and drywall mud. Sanding was done in my closet without draping plastic so drywall mud got on my clothes and dust everywhere. They also sanded in the kitchen without draping plastic that I specifically requested, dusting a laptop and an expensive special order cap. After they left I was cleaning and found large globs of dried drywall mud, that had been walked in, underneath my couch, etc. Beyond that I gave up trying to get details fixed such as a smooth finish on sanded edges and a complete job on garage ceiling. The worst area of my den ceiling did end up looking good after they were told a better way to approach the problem. They may have more skill in other areas, did show up when promised and called when they were unable to come. I would suggest they keep improving their skills and work on being more organized in their scheduling as they were bouncing between several jobs. Being thorough and careful in cleaning up their mess, not leaving ladders in the way etc at the job site and not bringing so many people to help would lend professionalism. They will probably do much better in a couple years with more experience."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

A steel frame costs 10% to 20% more than a wood frame. Wood is a much easier material to work with, more accessible, and generally more affordable than steel—plus, you need specialized tools to work with steel.

Any type of construction that damages a tree’s roots via soil compaction can be dangerous, and is one of the primary causes of mature tree death in residential areas. Simply putting lots of weight on the ground around the tree, like construction supplies, trailers, and equipment, can kill roots near the surface. Of course, installing new foundations, patios, or utility lines can cut through nearby tree roots. Accidentally striking a tree with equipment or supplies is rarely a problem, but can cause damage of its own, too.

The construction stage is almost always the longest part of building a house. Within this stage, framing often takes the most time, lasting anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the home's size, the crew, and the time of year. Other parts of the construction phase include pouring the foundation and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring. The planning and design phase can also be very time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years, especially for a custom home. The final finishing process, which includes painting and installing trim, is typically shorter than the construction or planning stages.

Prefab sheds can be worth it, depending on your needs and goals. If you want to build the shed yourself or have a quick project turnaround, then a prefab shed will likely be worth it. If you want something more customized, then starting from scratch may help you achieve your goals better than a prefab could.

Your chicken coop needs to be off the ground to protect your chickens and avoid problems brought on by flooding, mud, and moisture. If you can't locate a high area to build the coop, you should build an elevated coop to ensure it stays dry.
