"Mr. Cortez did an outstanding job replacing the siding above my garage door. He was very communities and even caulked an area near my downspouts. He even checked my other downspouts to make sure they were OK. I was very pleased!"

"I recently hired TM Construction to replace my vinyl siding with Hardie board, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the entire experience. After interviewing several contractors, I ultimately chose TM Construction—and I’m very glad I did. From day one, Tim (the owner) stood out for his professionalism, organization, and attention to detail. He kept the job site clean, communicated clearly throughout the process, and was always available to answer questions and offer helpful guidance. The quality of the workmanship is excellent, and the finished product completely transformed the look of my home. Tim and his team delivered exactly what they promised, on time and without any unnecessary complications. If you’re looking for a contractor who is reliable, detail-oriented, and easy to work with, I would highly recommend TM Construction."

"Put down payment Dec 1. Waited three-four months for work to begin no communication. I called regularly trying to receive information. They did great work once they were here. The final problem was the clean-up of the work site. The project manager had to finish it up."

"They continued to work despite the rain. They could have done a little better job of clean up but overall I am completely satisfied. I did the roof as a surprise for my daughter and her husband while they were on vacation and Chad made sure the time was allotted on his calendar and got it done. Great job from everyone. Thank you"

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Vinyl log siding is durable, rot-resistant, colorfast, and scratch-resistant, and it can last for an average of around 30 years. Some vinyl siding can last for up to 60 years with proper maintenance. You won’t need to repaint or restain this type of siding every several years like you would with wood, so ongoing costs and upkeep will be minimal. Although it’s relatively low maintenance, you should still wash your vinyl log siding twice per year. Doing so will increase its longevity, remove any mold, and retain your home’s curb appeal.

If you have stucco on the outside of your home, it’s technically considered cladding and not siding, but beyond that, it’s impossible to tell without a little digging. Without damaging the siding material, expose part of it to see if there’s an air gap between the siding and your exterior wall. If there is, you have cladding. If the siding is affixed directly to the exterior wall, you have a simple siding system.

You should install your cedar shake siding with the rough side exposed. The smooth side is less resistant to weathering over the years, and the rough side gives your home a more rugged aesthetic. The rough side also takes to paint better and ensures any paint job will last longer before needing to be redone.

Professional installers typically recommend caulking between siding boards, but it depends on the material. With Hardie board and fiber cement siding, manufacturers don't recommend adding caulk because it can trap moisture in the joints or discourage flexibility in fluctuating temperatures. Consult your local siding contractor about caulking best practices before adding any to your home’s exterior.

You should plan to stain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and provide maximum protection, though some estimates suggest a range of four to six years. The exact frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the overall condition and quality of the wood.

For homes in harsh climates with high humidity and significant sun exposure, you should plan on staining as often as every three years, while those in milder locations may only need to do so every seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh climates, consider using an opaque stain.

If you are looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, you might consider vinyl or aluminum siding. While the initial installation cost can be higher, they do not require as much upkeep and can offer more value over time, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.
