"Floor Decor and More did an excellent job on repairing our laminate flooring that was damaged by a water leak from the adjacent laundry room. They were very courteous and professional. Mike, the owner of the company, explained all the procedures for repairing the floor. We would highly recommend them. The job took longer than expected but they did not charge us an additional fee. We plan to use them in the future when we replace our guest room carpet with laminate flooring. Betty and Bob"

"Joe came to our house on a Monday and did the measuring. He got back to us the same day with a quote. The following Monday, three men came to do the work and were finished in about six hours. They moved all the furniture, removed the old carpeting and padding and installed the new carpeting and padding. They were very courteous and careful with everything and we are so happy with our new carpeting. I loved the way everything went so smoothly. I would recommend Carpet King to anyone."

"I LOVE MY NEW FLOORS! I am very happy with the team at INTERNATIONAL FLOORING & the excellent job they have done with my Porcelain floors upstairs and downstairs. Stunning! Samuel, was super helpful & patient w/ my flooring selection which made the difficult process much easier. Due to severe allergies I need to use nontoxic products and adhesives. He helped me with the selection for the perfect fit. They arrived each day as they said. All of the workers were skilled, professional and friendly. They cleaned up after themselves each day. They were courteous and helpful, and I am very pleased. I will use INTERNATIONAL FLOORING for my next project, since they do more than floors. SEARCH NO MORE ! USE INTERNATIONAL FLOORING for all your renovation needs!"

"Roger was my sales person and I must say he was excellent! Without going into detail, I had moved under some rather extenuating circumstances and he worked with me and his patience was amazing!! He considered the best cost and quality for my needs, and the carpeting is perfect. Let's just say, I put him through a lot and his patience never faltered. The carpeting is a great quality (and environmentally 'green'), they not only worked around the tight schedule I was presented with, but they finished early, giving me some room to breathe. The rooms turned out great! It's a fine company and if I should need any flooring done, I will definitely use them again (if they'll accept my patronage. hahaha). Yep, I was pretty stressed during my move. "Ms. Hyde""

"We had a tub that we thought needed completely replaced. Coastal Surface Solutions made the tub look better than it did new. They put a nice anti slip texture that is extremely comfortable. Great job."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Laminate flooring is susceptible to expansion and contraction during temperature fluctuations. In the summer, laminate flooring is more likely to expand, possibly giving it a crowned or warped look. In the winter, when temperatures fall, the flooring can contract, revealing gaps between the boards. This is normal and should be expected when you install laminate flooring.

You can lay your laminate flooring in whichever direction you'd like. However, you should check your materials' instructions and see what the maximum length limit is for the installation. This differs according to the brand you buy, but you can expect it to be around 40 linear feet. Depending on the size of the room, this might dictate which direction you end up laying the planks.

It all depends on what you’re looking for in a floor. Cork flooring is certainly softer and more sound-absorbing than hardwood floors, and the two share very similar maintenance routines. That said, for some homeowners, the pristine appearance of hardwood floors may be more appealing, and they may be less prone to scratches and dents than cork flooring. Hardwood flooring also tends to be more expensive than cork flooring.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls, and its cushioning can lessen the severity of an injury if a fall does occur. Hard surfaces often lack the friction needed for a secure tread and can be quite slippery.

However, it's worth noting that some carpets can also be slick, particularly if they are brand new, dirty, or made from certain materials. If any stair surface feels too slippery, traction treads can be added to most materials to increase grip and improve safety.

As with anything you buy, be wary of prices that seem too good to be true. Some low-cost flooring products can contain chemicals that release harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds) in the form of fumes that can be inhaled or dust that can cause skin conditions.

Even good-quality products can be dangerous for DIY-ers who don’t take proper precautions. Always carefully read manufacturer instructions and wear the recommended protective gear when working with paints and other chemicals. You can also hire a local garage flooring pro with the experience and equipment needed to perform the installation safely with no lingering fumes or debris.
