"I had MGT Enterprise to build me a 850 ft gravel driveway, installed 2 drain tiles for the water drainage, cleared off 2 acres and completely graded the land for my house to be built on, and cleared the land for my septic field. They called around and found the most reasonable prices for the job. When the owner gave me an estimate, everything was itemized just as I asked so I could understand what was being spent. MGT Enterprise was very responsive and gave me their professional opinions and described how they would perform all the work when they gave me a quote. Whenever I had questions, they immediately had answers even if I thought they were ridiculous, they never made me feel like I didnt know anything. They were very prompt with job timing and kept me informed through the whole process. They would not leave the job until I came out and they made sure I was 100% satisfied. I would recommend them to anyone who needs any excavation or work in that area."

"We liked Mike from the first moment we met him.  We asked a lot of questions and he was able to answer all without hesitation.  I needed to prod him a little bit to have him call me back with my estimate, but he was only a couple of days outside when he expected to get back with me.  The work was not started on the date expected, however, he was upfront and called to let me know.  His estimate came in under the others and his work was excellent.  I look forward to working with Mike on future projects.

"Carolina Construction was very professional, reliable, efficient, courteous and very fast...I have never seen a company like this one. They are very very fast. Their goal was to prove that they could ,get the job done and most importantly to give me great customer service....They did just that! Jeff Jones and his staff are the greatest. They have a lifetime contract with our property better known as "Joes Hill" named after my beloved father. I am in the medical field and when Carolina Construction had finished with my project I went back to work recommending their service to the nurses... Thank you a million times over Carolina Construction for a job well done!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

To drill a shallow well, you may be able to use a drive well point. This is a tapered point that is driven into the ground. A drill bit at the end of PVC pipe may be another option to consider. A lot of the cost depends on what tools are available near you.

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

A perc test can take anywhere from one to eight hours to complete. The total time depends on factors like the amount of excavation required, the depth and width of the holes, and whether multiple test holes are needed. For a single hole, the process of filling it with water and monitoring the drainage rate usually takes less than an hour. Professionals can often complete the entire test in a single day. While it's possible to get results the same day, some companies may take a few days to provide the official report.

After you successfully remove your boulder, you have a few options for what to do to get rid of it. You can rent a dumpster if your yard has many boulders or if you’re planning a larger project. You can even save the boulder and reuse it elsewhere on your property to save on landscaping costs. A few ideas include using the boulder as a natural, abstract statue, breaking it into smaller pieces to line your garden bed, or offering it to a landscaping company that could reuse it for another project.

There are many ways to cut through roots when digging, especially if your trencher doesn’t seem to be removing the roots. First, use a shovel to expose the roots. Then, use gardening shears to clear out smaller roots or a reciprocating saw to remove larger plant roots. If you plan on keeping the plant, avoid cutting any roots over 2 inches thick.
