"Went great. Maddie H. came by and found the problem with my old water heater. She setup the install for me. Bradley K. installed the new water heater the next day and did an excellent job. Both individuals were very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Great job to everyone concerned. Thanks!"

"Tim did an excellent job installing two new pendant lights in our kitchen. He kept necessary drywall cuts to a minimum, and even cleaned up the drywall dust afterward. The end result was exactly what we wanted, at a very fair price."

"Excellent! This is our 2nd home renovation and remodel with Double Tap HVAC and Electrical. Our first home we utilized Double Tap to ensure the sale of our home by renovating and updating 2 full baths, and all repairs listed per the inspection report. With Double Tap being a licensed contractor, electrician and HVAC it was a total win versus using several companies to complete the job! Outstanding work ethic, affordable pricing, impeccable knowledge base, and consistent daily work to get the job completed on time! We used Double Tap again for our newly purchased home to renovate our entire living space to create an open floor plan. This entailed wall removal, beam / support installation, mold removal, subfloor leveling, attic/ crawl space inspection, floor installation, and a complete staircase reconstruction. Double Tap has also made after hours HVAC emergency service calls for us. I highly recommend Double Tap HVAC and Electrical and will always be a loyal customer recommending to anyone that owns a home or business!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Coolant and antifreeze are technically not the same thing. The difference between the two is the ratio of water to other chemicals. True antifreeze is mainly made up of either ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, while coolant comprises one part antifreeze and one part water. However, the terms coolant and antifreeze are often used interchangeably, even by pros.

You can replace baseboard heaters with many other types of HVAC systems, including forced-air furnaces, hydronic heating, and heat pumps. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your budget, preferences, and the design of your house. If you aren’t sure which option is right for you, ask an HVAC pro for guidance.

Probably not. Moving a boiler to a new location is a very different prospect from replacing it in the same spot, and significantly more expensive. Plus, boilers are typically carefully positioned in proximity to pipes and radiators when installed. Homeowners may want to move boilers to free up space, prevent freezing problems that have happened in winter, or solve a noise issue—but it’s a much more costly proposition.

Yes, most municipalities require a permit for propane boiler installation to ensure safety and code compliance. Permit fees vary by location and are often included in your installer’s quote, as they’ll handle the permitting process. Ensure that you always check local regulations before starting your project to avoid fines or delays.

Radiators are a popular home heating choice in older homes, but they are becoming less common in new-construction homes. According to a 2022 report by Elements Visual Capitalist, only around 1.3% of new single-family homes have radiators and similar heating systems, such as baseboard heating.

While they may not be as popular as they once were, radiators today come with more energy-efficient features that can make them practical for modern homeowners.
