"Upon completion of a request for an electrician to install a thermostat, I received a call from the owner of P& W HVAC Services, Steven Berry; I informed him of additional services that I needed, although Mr. Berry was booked for the day, he was willing to try to fit me in so that I could have heat. An appointment was scheduled for the following day, Steven was on time, I reiterated what I needed, he answered questions that I had, & took care of my issues promptly, he is professional & his pricing was very reasonable. We discussed a future project, he let me know that he has been in the business for over 20 yrs. I highly recommend Steven & his Co. P& W HVAC Services will be the one that I contact, for the intended future project & other needs related to services his business provides."

"Al did a fantastic job! We had a very unusual project where we were turning a very small loft area into a bedroom space. He was friendly, quick to come out and give an estimate, and quick to get us scheduled. He kept things clean as he worked and along the way got feedback from us to ensure that the job was exactly as we wanted it. Al did quality work and used every minute efficiently the entire time he was onsite. Great experience all the way around!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

When an evaporator coil becomes faulty, it can result in various problems within your HVAC system. These problems could include reduced cooling or heating capabilities due to ice formation and obstructed airflow, along with increased energy consumption and higher bills. Additionally, a damaged coil may lead to refrigerant leaks, which are environmentally harmful and decrease overall system efficiency.

Ultimately, if not addressed right away, a bad evaporator coil can even lead to a complete failure of your HVAC system. That’s why timely repair or replacement is crucial to maintaining your family’s comfort and your HVAC’s efficiency.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.

Yes, a frozen AC unit can affect your indoor air quality since the reduced airflow won't be as effective at removing air pollutants, like dust and other allergens. Additionally, ice around the unit can create excess moisture, leading to mold and mildew that can damage your home if you don’t catch it early.

Don’t run your AC with a wet filter. It can cause your AC to work too hard, which will run up your utility bill and cause extra wear and tear on the system. You could also spread moisture and mold throughout your house. Turn off the AC, remove the wet filter, and check for cracks or clogs. Fix the problem (with a pro’s help, if you need it), and put a dry filter in place before you turn the system back on.

No, it isn’t necessarily bad to turn your AC on and off frequently—contrary to popular belief. Even if you stop and start your AC throughout the day, it won’t use as much energy as it would if you ran it nonstop.

If you’re concerned about your power consumption and energy costs, there are a few simple ways to use your AC more efficiently. Regularly cleaning the filters, scheduling routine maintenance, and using a programmable thermostat are all great choices.
