"Seemed very nice on the phone but when I went to hire them I would of had to wait almost 6 to 8 weeks because they were totally booked out. So figured they must really have a great business just was sorry i couldn't wait."

I have been doing various construction and handyman jobs alongside my father since the age of 12. I was employed as a Maintenance Technician at Shaw Industries and have started doing handy work full time to support my family. I’ve always been good with my hands and mechanically inclined. I specialize in mounting tv’s and hiding the cords for a clean look. I can also assemble commercial shelving, hang and repair shelves, put together furniture, put together appliances, install and repair doors, window repair, picture and mirror hanging. Build and repair fences and or gates.

Handyman Services questions, answered by experts

Most professional appliance removal companies will not expect a tip, but offering one is a good way to show appreciation for a job well done. A tip of 10% to 20% is a good idea if your professionals are working in the rain or snow, if they take extra care not to damage your walls and furniture in the removal process, or if they need to maneuver the appliance through tight spaces or up or down stairs to get it out of your home.

Cleaning a gutter, replacing fixtures such as a cabinet or light, and painting are common reasons to call a handyperson. You can also call on a handyperson for simple tasks, like assembling new furniture, and complex ones, such as installing a dishwasher. Overall, handypeople are ideal in all areas of home repair that do not require a specific certification, such as with plumbing, electrical, or structural issues.

A big resounding yes, hiring a contractor is 100% worth it. They bring expertise, manage permits, coordinate professions in different trades, and help avoid costly mistakes. A pro can keep your project on budget and schedule while ensuring quality work that adds value to your home.

While handypeople do not need to be licensed in many places, you should only hire insured pros for any home improvement work. Your handyperson should have active liability coverage that protects them and you in the case of an error or accident. Furthermore, if they have employees on your property, they should also have workers’ compensation insurance. If you hire an individual or a company that is not insured and they damage your property, have an accident while on the job, or become injured on your property without insurance, you can be held financially liable.

Tipping contractors is not expected or required. However, consider tipping your remodeling contractor if they exceed your expectations.
