"If we could give Upstate Granite Solutions 1000 stars we would! We originally went with another fabricator through a big box company, and did we ever regret that move! Justin gave us some great feedback and advice when I called with some general questions about the installation of countertops. After some questions, he asked me if we had had countertops installed already, and when I answered, he replied in a horrified tone, "Mam, did WE install your countertops?" I assured him that they had not, but I just needed to know if what I was seeing was normal. I followed Justin's advice. I figured the other company may be forced to redo part of our countertops, but was tickled when they were forced to give us a partial refund and to pay for the tearout. Justin gave us the advice with no expectations that we would be able to have them replace our countertop. He went above and beyond, because it was the right thing to do. The icing on the cake was when Upstate Granite Solutions measured for the replacement and found that the other company had charged us for 2 extra square feet by rounding up the inches several times! In all, they claimed that they had installed 70 square feet, when we only received 66 square feet! Upstate Granite Solutions would have been much cheaper than the other company, where we thought we were receiving a discount! Upstate Granite Solutions did a much better job than the other company. They were able to remove the countertop without breaking or chipping a single backsplash tile! The seam was tight, and we only needed one seam instead of two! The color of the seam blended much better also. Upstate Granite Solutions is honest and trustworthy and did an outstanding job! Every single person we came into contact with was a professional. Concrete countertops are made food-grade through their sealant and the continued use of a food-grade cleaner. For that reason, it is important not to use acidic cleaners or bleach. Read the ingredients on any cleaner and avoid products with vinegar, acid, or anything else that could eat away at the concrete's sealant.
The resin should be periodically sealed to help prevent it from wearing down or becoming porous. Very sharp or very hot objects can damage the resin surface, and there’s no way to fully repair it if that happens, so we recommend treating the counters well.
Gray is always a safe bet when painting concrete countertops, since concrete is a variation of gray. You may also choose black or white, but those are much starker colors that only do well in certain kitchens.
