"We had to install new floors because of a recent fire. Yuri with Palm Flooring was the man for the job. The new floors look excellent. They do not cut corners, and do the job right. We plan to use them again when we redo our staircase. Yuri and Palm Flooring not only are Professional, but you can tell they care about your house and giving you the best floors they can. I would hire them again in a second."

"After interviewing 4 reputable Flooring companies, I was immediately certain that Traci and Collin were the best choice for our particular needs. A 16 year- old heart pine floor downstairs had already been refinished upon our move-in 7 years ago. However a kitchen remodel exposed significant areas of never-refinished wood which could not be matched to existing floors. The only option was a 2nd go-round---with attention to preserving the floor's integrity. The team at CMH custom-mixed a beautiful, modern "Cypress" stain; about 6 floorboards were fully replaced. Traci procured a small bundle (+$800) so that in our finished result the new h.p. boards blended seamlessly. Though the golden and reddish brown hues of heart pine felt appealing in a previous home, this stain created a clean look that modernized and brightened the entire first floor of our home! CMH returned a couple months later to match up floor treads on a 2-story stairway. A major reason for 5 stars: Showing up when dates are set, returning to tweak grooves that needed a filler, and overall cost--which was mid-range among the 4 I obtained. Traci is a wonderful, friendly and professional coordinator/estimator for CMH. Collin is highly skilled and quick to respond during the process."

Customers say: True professional

"Nation Hardwood Floors did an incredible job on our new floors! We worked with Nunes, who did a great job explaining the process to us and what would be done. They were able to do our whole upstairs (three bedrooms and closets) in about 1.5 days. He probably would have been done even sooner but we had structural issues prior with the home (nothing to do with Nation Hardwood Floors) that needed to be corrected before flooring went into the primary bedroom. Nunes was also able to help connect us with someone who could help us in this area as well! We love our new floors and will have them back for other flooring projects in the future! The whole process was smooth and stress free."

"Amazing!!! Paul Apted and his team were absolutely incredible!! They came in and laid down all new flooring in less than two hours and it looks amazing!! The price was also unbeatable. They were very friendly and had wonderful customer service and worked with me to figure out the best fix for my project! I absolutely would hire them again, it was a quick, easy and painless project!!! Which is wonderful considering I thought it was going to be a headache to get my floor taken care of. Now my house is ready to go for my new tenant that moves in, in a week. Thank you Holy City Flooring!!!"

"I rarely take the time to review anything but Bruza Liquid Floors just finished my garage floor and did an outstanding job! The amount of prep work they completed, their friendliness, attention to detail, and final product was more than I ever expected. If you want to have the garage floor that you enjoy and that will also impress your neighbors hire these guys. While they were finishing up the job two people viewed my garage floor and wanted their company info. I highly recommend Bruza Liquid Floors!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Your Charleston home is well-suited for new flooring if the subfloor is stable, free of moisture issues, and properly insulated. Homes built before 1950, especially in the historic district, may need extra inspection for uneven surfaces or structural settling. If you notice musty odors, visible water stains, or persistent squeaks, address these concerns before starting your flooring installation for best results.

Helpful?

In Charleston, homeowners often encounter hidden costs such as subfloor repairs from past moisture damage, installation of vapor barriers, or the need for dehumidifiers. Historic homes may require custom transitions or leveling for uneven floors. Delays from hurricane season or extended acclimation periods can add to labor expenses. Additional fees may arise from HOA approvals, permit requirements, or disposal of old flooring materials.

Helpful?

In Charleston, flooring projects for single rooms typically take one to three days, while larger or whole-house installations may require up to three weeks. High humidity and hurricane season can extend timelines, as materials often need extra acclimation. Local flooring contractors also recommend scheduling projects during drier months to help ensure a smoother process and minimize weather-related delays.

Helpful?

Charleston homeowners should consider humidity control, flood risk, and the impact of seasonal weather when planning flooring projects. Historic districts may require specific materials or design approvals to maintain architectural integrity. Limited contractor access and parking in downtown neighborhoods can affect scheduling. The fall and winter months are ideal for flooring installation, as lower humidity helps materials acclimate and contractors are generally more available.

Helpful?

In Charleston, luxury vinyl plank and engineered hardwood are leading choices for flooring installation due to their resistance to humidity and flooding—common local concerns. Oak and bamboo engineered hardwoods are especially popular in historic homes, while porcelain tile is favored for kitchens and bathrooms. For homes in flood-prone areas, waterproof flooring materials and moisture-resistant underlayment are strongly recommended to ensure long-term durability.
