"My girlfriend and I recently contacted All Service Moving to help us relocate our furniture from Seattle to Lake City, and the service from them was amazing! Brad and Donald were personable, professional, speedy, and thorough. I definitely recommended their service if you need lots of stuff moved quickly and hiccup-free. They wrapped everything up nicely (they were also very handy with their bubble-wrap, even using it as a doorstop when going in and out for easier access), deconstructed furniture with ease, and overall made the job look so easy!"

Small jobs welcome

"We just had Citywide Moving move us from Fort Mill, SC to Murrells Inlet, SC. We have moved several times over the years and I can honestly say that we have never had a more professional and courteous experience with a move. The movers were excellent, thoughtful and showed a high degree of respect for our belongings. Both the load and the unload were accomplished with Zero damage to any of our belongings. I highly recommend Citywide Moving to anyone looking to move."

"The movers from Reign Moving Solutions, LLC were the most professional and best I have ever hired in my lifetime thus far. I got a call back immediately when I made the request, the quote and confirmation quickly for the date and time I wanted. My furniture was wrapped and protected and moved seemlessly. They knew what they were doing and nothing was lost or damaged. They were curtesy, professional and knowledgeable and took time and care doing the job. I will use them again with no hesitation."

"The total price came in slightly higher than the estimate, however, I moved during peak time... gas prices were at their all time high. Three years earlier the same move cost 100 percent lower, then again, I moved in non peak time..."

Moving questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you should get a full month’s notice for a move date. If you’re renting, your landlord or property management company is required to give the same amount of notice as your pay period length. So, if you pay rent each month, they will need to give you a month’s notice unless your leasing agreement says otherwise.

Typically, local moves involve either renting a moving truck and moving yourself or hiring local movers to do the job. For long-distance moves, options include hiring a full-service moving company that handles packing, loading, transportation, and unloading, or using a self-moving service where you load your belongings into a container or trailer and have it transported. Another option is hiring professional movers for labor-only services, where they assist with loading and unloading your rented truck. You can also opt for moving pods or moving containers that can be transported to the destination.

While your movers focus on packing and transporting your belongings, you can focus on other parts of your move, such as preparing children and pets to move or cleaning rooms as they’re emptied. You’ll need to be onsite as your movers pack or unpack your stuff, and can help direct movers to where items should go if they need help. Additionally, if there are certain items you’d prefer to move yourself, such as valuables or sentimental items, focus on packing those things and taking them with you during your move.

Yes, it is cheaper to move yourself than to hire professional movers. The average DIY move costs $120 to $2,300, while professionals cost $890 to $2,570 on average or up to $12,000 for the longest distances. While you’ll save on the cost of professional labor with a DIY move, you’ll spend more time and energy packing, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking.

You should always transport the washer and dryer in an upright position. If they are turned on their sides to move, it can cause damage to the internal parts, such as the suspension and drums. Don’t attempt to move a washer or dryer to a new location if it’s sitting on its side.
