They scraped the entire 3-car garage and workshop ceiling and portions of walls to remove failing sheetrock tape, sanded, painted and cleaned up all in one day. Even though spray foam insulation typically comes at a higher price point than other insulation types, the benefits make up for the investment. Some benefits of spray foam insulation include:

  • Improved air quality, as this type of insulation helps minimize indoor allergens

  • Easy installation

  • Added home strength, protecting it from humidity and wind.

These two types of foams are similar chemically, but they are applied in a much different way and each has its own pros and cons. Spray foam can only be used if the area where you will be installing the installation is wide open and easy to access. Injection foam should be used where it's cost-prohibitive to remove the walls that are placed over the insulation. Spray foam is a much less expensive process and requires less expertise.

It is also an excellent insulator, which is why it was used in pipe insulation and other building materials for decades. For all its benefits, asbestos is dangerous for human health, which is why it was eventually banned from use in certain products.

Minimal maintenance is required, though regular inspections to ensure insulation hasn't shifted or deteriorated can improve performance over time.
