Family owned and operated since 1971.

"WOW!!!! Professional, courteous! I had serious hail damage to my roof and Single Source came in, did the estimate, contacted my insurance company and within a few weeks, I have a fabulous looking new roof upgraded roof! Justin at Single Source is extremely knowledgable on building codes and because of that, he was able to show the codes to the insurance company to get the upgrades covered. Their roofing team worked from the moment they arrived with one short lunch break working almost 12 hours. They completed the entire job in one day and my roof is 2,000 square feet, so it's a sizable roof. The team was very careful to protect my gardens, they moved plants, lawn furniture and put everything back they in place before they left. The clean up was impeccable! Not a scrap of shingle, paper, trash or nails left to be seen! I would highly recommend Single Source for all your repair needs caused by damage."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

In the 1980s, the use of asbestos in house siding materials underwent a significant decline, ultimately being phased out by the mid-1980s to early 1990s. This change was largely due to a growing awareness of the severe health risks associated with asbestos exposure, particularly its link to lung diseases and cancers. With increased public concern and regulatory agency involvement, building codes and regulations were updated to restrict the use of asbestos in construction materials.

Scraping off asbestos siding is extremely dangerous. When asbestos is inert, it does not pose a risk, but once disturbed, the fibers enter the air that you breathe and can cause irreparable damage. Professionals may scrape it off, but they will have more protective equipment and specialized tools that most homeowners do not have on hand.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned the use of asbestos pipe insulation in certain applications in 1975. It released further bans in 1989 and 2019. While asbestos pipe insulation was common from the 1930s to 1970s, its use fell off after the 1970s due to public concern and the EPA's actions.

Asbestos siding can be dangerous if disturbed because the material itself poses a health risk. Asbestos is one of the leading causes of lung cancer as it causes mesothelioma—an aggressive cancer. Asbestos can also cause irreversible damage to your lungs by creating a buildup of scar tissue, called asbestosis. It has a habit of making its way through even robust personal protective equipment (PPE), which is why it’s not recommended that you perform any asbestos work yourself.

In most cases, homeowners insurance doesn't cover asbestos abatement. Insurance policies frequently exclude coverage for pollutants, contaminants, and hazardous materials, which include asbestos. It's considered a pre-existing condition in homes built before its ban, so removal is seen as a maintenance expense rather than an insurable loss. There may be an exception if the asbestos-containing materials are disturbed due to a covered event, such as fire or storm damage. Some policies may cover the abatement as a part of those repairs.
