"Adam called me immediately and met me that same day. I hired the company and they cut my grass that same day. They used a ride on mower and my land is uneven so some areas were shorter than others. Two days later they spread 10 yards of hemlock mulch and recut some areas of my grass with push mower. They will use a push mower in the future. My yard now looks beautifully landscaped. Communication is definately key with this company. They aim to please!!"

"It was a dreadful winter in the Greater Boston area, and we experienced much more snow that usual.  When it wasn't snowing, and the sun shown on the side of the house by the driveway, the snow melted.  The resulting water refroze each night   This created ice build up in the gutters and downspouts such that there was no place for water to drain.  As a result huge icicles formed, and the risk of damage to people and cars in the driveway was huge.  Northern Lights Electric offered a deal through Angie's List for the installation of a specific amount of cable and of work.  An immediate appointment could not be set because the driveway had to be clear of snow.
The workers arrived on an extremely blustery day in late April.  The original work took more time than we had all anticipated.  More cable was used than was initially covered in the deal and it was suggested that I add downspout covers to keep out detritus.
Ladder work was very risky in the strong winds.  We agreed that the workers would return at a later date with a much longer ladder to complete the work safely.  I found the advice sound and agreed to a small additional charge for the time necessary to complete the work.
Today the workers returned.  In addition to finishing up the originally contracted work they also reattached a downspout and removed some loose cable. That was a great kindness and most appreciated.
I have nothing but praise for this company and these workers.  They are terrific, and I recommend them heartily and without reservation.

"With all the snow my roof began to develop an Ice Dam. With a small leak coming in my upstairs bathroom. Called Northern Exposure at 4pm, Richard answered and said he would have his crew out the next day. Within 24 hours they were there, removing snow and ice dam from the roof. These guys did an excellent job and my problem instantly went away. I would use this company again!!

"Kevin arrived on time to take a look at the project and give us a quote. He was EXTREMELY professional. Not something you see these days anymore! We went over colors, ideas and layouts. We found Kevin on Angies List and went with him because of all of the wonderful reviews. They did not disappoint. At the first visit we spoke about wanting to clear an area of land as well but needed to find a landscaper. He said that he has a reputable landscaper that he partnered with on many projects and he was able to quote the two together for us! We were ecstatic. We received our quote within the week. We felt the price very reasonable for the amount of work we were looking to have accomplished. He even gave a discount on the built in fireplace (which came out BEAUTIFUL I might add.... We have a small backyard that until recently had not been able to use in the way we wanted... After this job was completed we now have an oasis to call our own. The landscaping that was done was not a small job, 3 smaller trees and all brush needed to be removed, dug out and new stone/dirt and seed was laid. That area is also something I look out at each morning with a sigh of relief. The grass has gown in beautifully aside from a small patch that was disrupted upon a shed install. (We will reseed that area soon) All of our neighbors are jealous of our new patio. It's become the neighborhood hangout for all of us on our street. My husband wit the help of a friend built an outside bar off of the stamped patio to make it even more inviting. I would recommend Kevin and his team as well as his landscaping partners to anyone looking to have their yard transformed. You won't believe your eyes when it's done!!! Our concrete stamped patio was approximately 450-500 sq feet and the area to clear and reseed was approximately 30 x 60 feet. I couldn't find my pics of the landscaping but haven included the concrete patio. It's dark now or I would take new ones for you to see how great it came out!"

"Have been using D&D for years. Not ways the best price, but competitive. But they are quick, punctual, professional, and have great quality materials. And the driver always drops the mulch exactly where we want it. We keep our eyes open for coupons in he the spring and then set it up. We'll always call D&D first.

"Jonathan did a terrific job cleaning windows in an apartment we had just
rented. The windows may not have been cleaned in a decade or longer and
he made them look brand new. He took out the storms and screens and cleaned
the windows in and out. Jonathan also replaced the broken roller shades for us.
He removed the shades for measurement and a few days later installed brand new ones
for us -- a service I really appreciated!
Jonathan is very professional: polite and punctual. A
delightful person too.

"Well they lost their plow. So superwoman Tasha put on her cape and grabbed a dude and a snowblower, loaded up her truck and off she went. She went to great lengths to honor the contract and get the snow removed. Looks just as good as a plow. Hand laid the promised salt. Took them a while, but understandable back breaking labor. Assurances of a plow in the future. Would recommend and use again. Despite all odds they got it done."

FAQs for snow removal projects in Mapleville, RI

Before hiring a snow removal company, it’s essential first to ask questions to understand the details thoroughly. Since every company has different policies and snow removal methods, it’s best to clarify upfront before you’re left in a heap of snow. Some starting questions to consider include:

  • What are the procedures for a snowstorm? Do I need to call you each time, or do you automatically come out?

  • Do you wait until after the snow has stopped falling or make multiple passes throughout the storm?

  • What is your method of removal?

  • Do you use salt after the snow is removed? Is it pet-safe?

  • How does your billing work? Do you bill extra for blizzard conditions?

  • Can I sign an annual contract, or do you bill for each storm?

The cost of an annual snow removal contract is $200 to $600. This cost is significantly impacted by the area you live in. Places that don’t receive considerable snowfall might charge less for an annual contract, and those areas that get heaps of snow throughout the fall and winter can expect to pay on the higher side. In addition, property size, expected response time, and extra services like clearing a sidewalk can also impact your cost.

Yes, most states require that snow removal companies be insured under workers' compensation. This protects the employees financially if an injury were to happen (and when dealing with ice and snow, it’s possible that injury could occur). In addition, most states require snow removal companies to be covered under general liability, which would help cover the cost of any property damage incurred during the removal process.

Depending on where you live and your average snowfall, removing snow from your property yourself with either a shovel or a snowblower is reasonable. A snow shovel costs around $60, and a snowblower can range from $100 to $2,300. However, taking a DIY approach to this isn’t always the best option. In these cases, it’s best to hire a professional snow removal company:

  • If you have a large property or an extended area that needs clearing

  • If you have certain health conditions, such as mobility issues

  • If you want to save time or need the snow removed ASAP

  • If you live in an area with frequent heavy snowfall and want to offset your time spent

  • If you lack the space to store snow removal equipment

It’s no surprise that removing snow from your driveway makes coming and going significantly easier and lowers the risk of falling. However, it’s important to note that if you don’t remove snow from your driveway, you run the risk of damaging your paving. As the snow melts, water can seep into your driveway. This can lead to the formation of cracks. When the water freezes, this expands the minor cracks, leading to more significant damage.
