"I was incredibly impressed with the professionalism and responsiveness of Pro Painters Plus. I needed my deck re-finished within a certain time frame to comply with my community's association regulations. Mike and his crew were able to work with my schedule and complete the job promptly and with incredibly high quality. The deck looks great, and I would highly recommend Pro Painters Plus."

"Had a 8-10 week backlog due to pandemic, but finally got the work scheduled. Showed up on time. Reviewed scope of work and got to work straight away. I added several windows on back & side of house to be painted & caulked. Add-on work was rather expensive relative to initial proposal, but the windows are on upper floor. Work was good overall. On close inspection, some prep work could have been done better. One extra request to apply mullion tape to the seams of several double windows was only completed on one window, and the old tape was not completely removed, leaving the mullion seam looking poor. Skipping the other windows may have been the result of miscommunication on my part. Other work was done well. Clean-up was good."

"A phenomenally positive experience. Francisco, the owner, was extremely helpful and always easy to reach. His crew did excellent work and came reliably, exactly when they said they would. They were meticulous about protecting floors and furnishing and always cleaned up at the end of the day. Also, they worked quietly (no radio, etc) which I appreciated greatly as I work from home. The painters spoke very little English and I speak no Spanish. But Francisco was always immediately reachable by phone if something needed to be communicated and he stopped by most days. Last, but certainly not least. We got three estimates and New Era's was the lowest."

"Lez and Ricardo arrived on time, had all the tools for the job with them that were needed. They listened to what needed to be done, made some good suggestions and completed the in a timely manner, I was also pleased with how clean they worked and their attention to detail. They made the bathroom look like new again and the bedroom ceiling stains are all gone and looking great. I will be using them in the future and will recommend them to family and friends for any painting jobs they have. Thank you"

"Honest, prompt, quality workmanship, good communication. Did a roof repair around chimney. Gave me an estimate which I accepted. Upon doing the work, Jim said it was less extensive than what he thought it might be. Cut the estimated price almost in half. That is honesty. Highly recommend WJC Construction for a variety of home repairs."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Deciding whether to stain or paint a pool deck depends on your budget, desired look, and the deck's material. Both options can work. Paint offers a wider variety of color options, provides excellent water resistance, and can last longer. However, it requires a primer and can eventually fade or peel. Stain is often cheaper, easier to apply, and penetrates the wood for a more natural look and longer-lasting finish. It also has great water resistance. The downsides are fewer color options and the need for a sealant. The choice can also depend on the deck material; for example, staining may be a better option for concrete as it bonds well and lasts longer than paint.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.

Rags used with oil-based stains are highly flammable and can spontaneously combust in the right conditions. To reduce the fire risk, throw them in a metal container after use and add rocks on top to secure them. Add an inch of water and seal the container. Take the rags in the container to a hazardous waste factory as soon as possible.

By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.
