"Steven reached out to me via HomeAdvisor the same night I requested local pest control companies. We actually spoke the following day, which was a Saturday, and he came out to address my problem (cicada wasps) on Monday. The treatment was going to require 2 visits over the course of a couple weeks. He kept in contact with me to see how things were progressing and always informed me of when he would be there. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and patient with all my questions. The best part...no more giant cicada wasps digging up my yard! No doubt, give him a call."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Adult fleas can live a few days to a couple of weeks on your couch if they don't have a host to feed on. However, flea eggs, larvae, and pupae can live much longer, even several months, with the right conditions. That is why it’s vital to eradicate them from your couch and other upholstered furniture.

A raccoon may be hanging around your house for convenient access to food, water, or shelter. They may drink water out of puddles, pools, ponds, fountains, or your pet’s water bowls. Raccoons are also known to eat just about anything, including food from gardens and waste from unsecured trash cans.

Moles live underground and feed on insects. They dig and move through tunnels, usually in meadows or forests but sometimes in lawns and gardens. They are about 6 inches long with large claws, tiny eyes, and hidden ears.

Shrews do not dig their own tunnels but will use other animals’ tunnels, and are about 3 to 4 inches long. They look similar to mice and feed on insects.

Voles are similar in size to moles but have large eyes and small but visible ears. Rather than eating insects, voles are herbivores that prefer seeds, grasses, and plant roots.

Wasp removal is challenging for pros and novices and carries the risk of painful stings. Therefore, it’s not surprising that wasp removal is not free. You can save money by going the DIY route, but paying a professional exterminator increases the chance of effective removal—and keeps you from painful wasp stings.

Squirrels hate not having access to secure shelter or food sources. Your best line of defense is to make your property less attractive by removing access to these things. There are chemical squirrel repellents, but these have mixed success. According to Pennsylvania State University, you can apply products containing the bittering agent denatonium saccharide to a squirrel's favorite fence, tree, or roof spots. However, you need to reapply repellents regularly, which aren’t scientifically proven effective.
