"Chimney experts was very professional in both scheduling and the job. Al was very thorough to not only look at the chimney, but also to stay with me until we had fully built a fire and had it burning long enough to run a full test of the appliance. Would highly suggest for inspection and installation- they know the business well."

"Boy if you're looking for masonry work - end your search here. From the first inquiry to the completion of our project, they were responsive, respectful and do great work! They cleaned up any mess, they even rinsed my driveway. This is how it is supposed to be. We added a full fireplace wall of brick veneer and we couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you to the entire crew at Disciple!"

"Correct diagnosis was made for a 20+ year old much loved gas fireplace that was unable to light. Parts were found and ordered. A two man team arrived promptly at the appointment time to remove the old pilot system and install the new one. They completely covered the floor in the area of their work so not a drop of debris was left. They worked intensely for an hour. The result is a beautiful clean burning fire place and a very happy homeowner."

"Eric and his team have helped us with two outdoor projects to install an underground storm drainage basin and to help with resetting pavers on our existing patio. They have communicated with us well throughout the process and completed their work in a timely and professional manner. I would not hesitate to use them again as we have more projects at our home."

"These guys are awesome. They are professional, knowledgeable, punctual, and personable. I’m always happy to welcome them into my home. They make sure it’s always done right. For instance, I had a poor little bat sneak into my chimney. Suffice it to say, it didn’t survive my first burn of Autumn 2020. They promptly sent out their guy (I think it was Mike) to thoroughly inspect and seal the chimney cap. He found the smallest opening and took care of it. As far as installation goes, they work quickly, cleanly, and courteously. Get on board with these guys! They’ll be there for you when you need them."

"Steve was fantastic! We brough in paramount to provide a quote for removing and replacing an old cast iron dampener. We had another company come out and provide us a quote on a basic chimney sweep and they recommended we replace the dampener (which was expensive) because they could not get the dampener open to clean the chimney. When Steve from Paramount came out to provide the quote, he informed us we would not necessarily need the new dampener, opened the existing one and cleaned the chimney. We just had our first fire last week (this is our new home)! Thank you Paramount and thank you Steve, we will be back!"

"I moved into a 1917 house that needed several electric jobs. Brad evaluated every part of the project, took into consideration my vision, and then went to work. He came out a few days early after only maybe 48 hours after I rang the company, which was highly recommended to me. The consult took 45 minutes (lots of mini electric projects) and he immediately went to work. Within maybe 2-3 hours after he first arrived for the consult, every project was done. I thought it would take several days spread out over a few weeks with return visits. He isn't a master. He is the master who taught the master and is young and energetic, but with over two decades of experience. Think Formula One pit-stop in terms of speed and German car efficiency in terms of quality. He knows all the codes, where exceptions lie, where the spectrum ranges from small, medium, and large fixes depending on the vision of the project (e.g., rental vs owner-occupier). He is also an artist at his craft with an appreciation for tidiness, presentation of wiring, attention to detail, and correctness. If you are looking for a $10 - $50 quick fix stick up battery light job, Brad is not your man. But he does help out across the rental to owner-occupier spectrum with excellent prices. If you want the job done right, even on a moderate budget, there are no better electricians out there. I have had many electricians over the years across multiple countries I have lived in and Brad was hands down the best overall."

"The technician arrived late and I needed to follow up with office to make sure I had the right expectation, which I did, and then shortly after he called me to let me know he was on the way. Not really too big a deal since he was about 45 minutes later than his window. My gas fireplace was not lighting properly and the pilot light would go out periodically. At the end of last winter I shut off the gas for safety reasons. I called Chimney Cricket because of the recommendations of Angies list, they have all A's. The technician was professional and did an inspection of the situation and components, he checked the remote starter and ended up changing all batteries. The remote was not "connecting" and the fire would not start. Shortly after the fire seemed to start on its own. The technician continued to assess the situation but eventually made the assessment, because he could not determine definitively the manufacturer of the log set and the apparent randomness of the fire starting, that I should completely replace all components of the fireplace. In follow up emails he was going to check into the situation further and get back to me on some recommendations, I did not hear back after more than a week so I went to the local fireplace shop (Chadds Ford Fireside Shop) to buy a whole new set. The shop salesman really questioned me and doubted that I would need to spend 2,000+ on a complete new set up including the chimney inspections and installation. He recommended that I spend another fee for "their" guy to come and have a look. I was not at all interested in paying another inspection fee, I argued with the salesman about how a professional had already assessed everything and that his guy was going to find the same, but I relented after the owner of the shop realized through our conversation that his shop had installed this fireplace and all components just 6 years prior. So the new chimney Technician came out today and after checking everything essentially pushed a reset button on the remote receiver to re-sync the remote transmitter and receiver. Now the fireplace is working fine again, he also cleaned the components and pilot light. I'm writing this review because 1) the price was very high for the service received (The other technician who fixed my remote today was MUCH more reasonable). 2) Chimney Cricket didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. 3) For a technician who has been in the gas log fireplace business for 30+ years I don't understand why he didn't know to try pushing the reset button. 4) He ended up fixing nothing, he did not fully follow up to give me recommendations and aside from an honest Fireplace shop owner who was more interested in getting my fireplace working vs making a new sale I would have spent 2,000+ for a new set up."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes. Not only do gas stoves present the risk of a gas leak, but cooking with gas produces twice as much harmful particulate matter. According to Columbia University’s Climate School, gas stoves can also release formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen, and carbon monoxide, which can be toxic in high concentrations.

Yes, professionals install sprinkler systems for enhanced fire suppression.

If your hardwired smoke alarm keeps going off, it could be because the backup battery needs replacing. When replacing the battery doesn’t stop your smoke alarm from beeping, try holding the reset button for 15 to 30 seconds or removing dust from the openings in the alarm. If it continues to chirp, it could be faulty and require replacement.

Yes, splicing wires can cause a fire if the splicing is done incorrectly. This is why splicing wires is a task best handled by electricians. One of the most common mistakes made when splicing wires is not using a wire connector. Without a wire connector, electricity flows unsheathed and can result in a home electrical fire.

Chimney caps are necessary both from a building safety standpoint in most municipalities and to keep your home protected from a variety of issues. Chimney caps are not only mandated by building code in most areas, but they also serve to keep squirrels, raccoons, and other pests out of your home, as well as snow and rain. Therefore, they help to avoid property damage, making them a worthwhile investment.
