"White glove flooring did a superb job of replacing my bathroom tile floor. They worked very neatly and I had nothing to clean up at the end. Jason explained the process to me. The floor was done in a timely manner. I had no wait time at all."

"These guys were amazing. I hired them to install a new backsplash and to fix some cracked grout. John came out to my house within a day and set up his associate Allen to be at my place right before the holidays. Allen was punctual, professional, and really educated me about the things I should do and lookout for with my tiles. He even found out that I needed extra tile in my shower - where I had no clue that I even had an issue there. As soon as I got the extra tile, John and Allen scheduled to come back right away and finished the job without a hitch. They stayed in constant contact with me and updated me every step of the way. Having hired a lot of contractors recently, I have to say I am very pleased with the care and attention these guys gave me. A"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

The best bathroom floor tiles are strong enough to withstand the weight of a clawfoot tub. However, professional tile installation is essential. If the tiles are uneven or improperly fixed, they may crack under the pressure. Be careful when installing the tub—if it drops or drags on the tiles, it could easily cause scratches or cracks.

Technically, you can start tiling in a corner and work your way out. However, it's not traditionally how tiling is done. Instead, work from the bottom middle of the wall. Tile out the entire row with whole tiles before moving on to the next row. Once you finish installing all of the whole tiles, then you focus on tiling the corners.

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.
