"We were very pleased with the overall experience—the issue was assessed quickly and accurately and the plumber, Jake, was friendly, professional, and happy to explain things along the way as well as answer any questions. The only drawback was cost (to be expected, I suppose) and the fact that they don’t do drywall repair following the job (which we were told ahead of time but is still a little disappointing)."

"Dealing with Casey Insulation was great. They installed attic and garage insulation at my daughterâ s home in one day, and were meticulous in protecting exposed areas and in cleaning up, even though there was little to no mess. Owner Bob Casey is hands-on in the process, even stopping by on the install day to check the work. His son, Sean, explained the process and showed me the attic results when finished, which I appreciated. I highly recommend this company for anyoneâ s home insulation needs."

"It was a pleasure dealing with Mincin and the final result made it worth the expenditure. They did cellulose attic insulation as well as dense packing the floor of an addition from its crawl space. Quite a difference!"

"I called to get a quote on the removal and installation for insulation in my attic. Erik Bachman was our Home Performance Specialist and was incredibly knowledgeable and honest with the quality of our existing insulation. As new home owners, the investment of installing new insulation can be overwhelming. Erik was very thorough in his inspection and was easy to talk to about what would make most sense in terms of an investment for our home. When the time is right, we will definitely give Insulwise a call for service. I am impressed with the high-level of customer service. I am relieved knowing that there is a local trust worthy company that I can call in the coming months to get the job done."

"The insulation in my basement was falling down and in horrible shape. These guys came out removed and installed new insulation the same day! The 2 workers who came out were very polite and thorough!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Whether you need drywall anchors depends on your specific project, particularly where you are hanging an item. Drywall anchors are not necessary if you can drive a screw directly into a wooden stud behind the wall, as the stud provides sufficient support. However, since studs are not present everywhere in a wall, you will need to use drywall anchors if you are hanging an object in a location without a stud. For very lightweight items, picture hanging strips can also be a suitable alternative.

It is possible to apply plaster on the interior or exterior of your home, but we don’t recommend it. Plaster is easy to apply in theory, but in reality, it can be a challenging material to work with, and it’s difficult to get the finished product to look clean, even, and smooth. Many DIYers end up calling in a professional afterward to touch up the area or even redo it entirely because of mistakes they made in the process. Hiring a plaster pro will cost more, but it’s usually the best option to achieve high-quality results.

The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.

Whether it’s better to screw or glue drywall depends on your specific budget and project timeline. Professional drywall installers are more likely to use screws and fasteners than adhesives, but it takes longer. But if you are DIYing your drywall installation, glue is a perfectly fine choice if you’re willing to pay extra for adhesive.

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim. Additionally, starting at the top is physically easier, as you won't have to fit the top sheet into a tight space between the lower sheet and the ceiling, or try to balance the upper sheets on the lower ones while securing them.
