"The Handy Express employees were great! They were so efficient and thorough . I smelled something burning in my light switch and the lights in the ceiling kept blinking. "Amazing group of repair professionals. I highly recommend Mr. Handyman Pittsburgh East. The deck on my house needed to be replaced. Rick, the Project Manager, and Todd, Chuck, Shawn and Jack, the service techs who worked on the deck, were excellent, very professional and neat, cleaning up every day. When I started talking with Rick about this project, I thought it wasn't going to possible for me to have everything taken care of in one undertaking. I must admit that cost was the major stumbling block. The deck is large and lumber/material costs took my breath away. But Rick worked with me, adjusting the materials and the design and making suggestions to help me make it happen! The deck was completed yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I now have a lovely place to sit and enjoy the day and my dog Spencer has a safe place to play outside. Thank you so much for all of your patience, kindness and, of course, excellent work!"

"We needed new gutter guards installed on our shed. Jesse thoroughly cleaned the gutters and professionally installed the new guards. The gutters were approximately 20 feet above ground level, and Jesse completed the work safely and efficiently. He arrived exactly as scheduled and worked diligently until the job was fully completed. We were very pleased with his workmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

It’s a good idea to wait at least 24 hours after opening your pool before you swim in it. Pool opening often involves shocking the water, and the chemical levels need to come down a bit before it’s safe to swim. You can continue testing your water pH and chlorine levels if you’re in a rush. It’s wise to wait until your chlorine levels drop to under four parts per million (ppm) and you have a water pH of between 7.2 and 7.8. You can artificially lower your water pH to speed up the process.

If your pool takes longer than one or two days to fill, you might be dealing with low water pressure. Using a water pressure gauge on your outdoor tap, you can check your water pressure. A reading of 40 psi or below is considered low. A leak, a nearby water shutoff, or several other reasons could cause this.

If the water pressure isn’t a problem, you could have a low flow rate from clogs, corroded pipes, or other plumbing issues. It’s best to call in a local plumber to get to the root of the issue.

Pool light replacements are often more expensive compared to other pool parts, like pump motors, or standard light bulbs for indoor use. The reason for the higher cost is that pool lights are specially designed and made with parts meant to keep swimmers safe. The light fixture and surrounding parts protecting the bulb must be waterproof, tightly sealed, and resistant to extreme temperatures.

Yes, you should keep your pool pump running when adding salt, and leave it running for 24 to 48 hours. This will help circulate the salt to ensure even distribution. You will want to turn off your pool’s salt chlorine generator before adding salt and leave it off until it fully dissolves. Check your manufacturer’s instructions for steps specific to your saltwater pool maintenance.

The number of gallons in your pool will determine how much chlorine you’ll need to add to your pool for the first time. Chlorine levels should fall between 1 and 3 ppm. It's crucial to read the instructions on your chlorine packet to determine the number of tablets to put in the water based on your pool's capacity.
