"It was unbelievable! The lights on my dishwasher were flashing, but the dishwasher wouldn’t close and it wouldn’t go on. I explained this to Mr. Evans and he told me to pull out the bottom rack And Check to make sure it was correct. I pulled it out and rearranged the dishes. It was unusually full. After doing this, It worked fine! So I don’t need service, At least for now. But when I do, I will definitely call express appliance! By the way, he was going to come out today if I needed his help! So nice to find such an honest and helpful Appliance repair man!!!"

"When my previous tankless water heater died two days before Christmas, I needed a solution fast. Hurricane not only replied immediately, but had a unit reserved for me in the event I would hire them. They gave me a break on installation costs since the necessary mechanical, plumbing and electrical was already in place. I will call on them for any future needs as they have now expanded their offerings. Based on my experience so far, I can recommend Hurricane."

Customers say: Quick response

"Glenn and his team were super awesome and professional throughout the process of installing 4 fans and 6 recess lights. They were punctual and respectful of my home... Cleaned up at the end of everyday. Price was below what others were charging for the same job and quality of work was beyond my expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending them to other electrical and wiring projects. Thank you Glen."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

The average cost to hire an electrician is around $350. However, every electrical job varies in scope, materials, and labor involved, so while you will likely pay anywhere between $85 and $1,100 for standard jobs, a project like rewiring a house can cost up to $30,000. You might also pay slightly higher prices if you need emergency work done or if the work involves accessing a hard-to-reach area in your home, like an attic or cramped crawlspace. You should ask your electrician for an estimate before agreeing to the work.

A correctly installed 3-way switch will not trip a breaker. If using a 3-way switch trips your circuit breaker, the ground wire might be touching something it should not be, there could be a short in the wiring, a wire could be loose, or the wrong wires are connected to the wrong locations on the switch. If you cannot easily see the problem, such as a loose wire, contact an electrician to fix the issue.

While the National Electrical Code (NEC) does not set a strict limit, a common guideline is to have a maximum of eight outlets or receptacles on a 15-amp circuit. This rule of thumb, which equates to about one outlet per 1.5 amps, helps keep the total electrical load safely below 80% of the circuit breaker's capacity. It is important to consider the power demands of any devices or appliances that will be plugged in, as overloading a circuit can lead to tripped breakers or create a fire hazard. To ensure the safety and code compliance of your electrical system, consult with a licensed electrician.

You can add an electrical outlet outside by sending a wire through the wall from an existing interior outlet. Without having to open up walls, you can thread a new electrical cable from the existing outlet through the wall and to the exterior. You’ll need to cut a hole in the siding to place your new outlet. Ensure that your outdoor outlet is a GFCI outlet (ground fault circuit interrupter outlet) per the National Electrical Code. It’s best to hire an electrician to add an outdoor outlet unless you have previous electrical experience.

The number of outlets and lights you can safely run on a single circuit depends on the circuit's amperage and local electrical codes. A general rule is to allow one outlet or light fixture per 1.5 amps, keeping the total load under 80% of the circuit breaker's capacity. For example, a 15-amp circuit can typically support up to eight outlets or lights, while a 20-amp circuit can accommodate up to ten. Always consider the combined power usage of all connected devices and fixtures to prevent overloading. For specific guidelines and to ensure safety, it is best to consult local electrical codes or a licensed electrician.
